Small groups are done during Free Play in the Interest areas. These are the Changes to Interest area Based on Children’s Interests/Study:
Dramatic Play (V): Pond life – What it
would be like to live in a pond.
Discovery (M): look at our tadpole and
caterpillars with magnifying glasses.
Library (K): Books about spring and
ponds have been added. Spring felt
board.
Sensory table (E): add different sized
lily pads
Art (E): Egg carton and painting to
make flowers and insects
Cooking/Table Toys (K): Nest & eggs
tweezer game. Bugs building toys, PEC
pictures, jumping frogs, numbered lily
pads.
Technology (M): watch the live action
story telling of the very hungry
caterpillar
Music (R/L): 5 green and speckled
frogs on CD to reenact and move to.
Large motor (M/V): Search Kendal’s
ponds and document what we see that
lives in them.
Blocks (R/L): Fake “ponds” (blue
papers) to build around or with.
Writing (V): Flower matching Letters
game and add pond words. (Lynea will
ask children during the week.)
