A Proposal for the first triple bottom line commercial real estate development project in Ivy City, one of the poorest sections of our Nation's Capitol!
Profit has always been the single most important driver for commercial real estate. Recently, with the advent of LEEDS certifications, cities have been demanding the developers address environmental concerns. However, the social dimension has long been ignored, with the term Gentrification a code term for eliminating poorer residents and essentially busting the neighborhood and replacing residents with more upscale clientele.

Who do we want to be in the alliance?
Before we engage in any initiative we need to run numbers
In addition to the overall community economic development impact upon the neighborhoods and communities in which our urban farms are created, in addition to the significant environmental benefits … In addition to over 100 new green jobs and a new industry for The District of Columbia. In addition:The Family Fish Farms Network, Inc. will be fully employee owned. Each worker an equal owner. Equal ownership means full voting rights for each worker equal to that of the president of the company. Each vested worker will be building a personal estate sheltered from all taxes until they leave or retire from the company. With the exception of key technical personnel, all hires will be made from within the community – a 100% local hiring practice. Our priorities are: Community, Single Parents, Veterans.Outreach – youth and community participation is critical. We plan a maximum involvement program with tours, school class and teacher training, along with cooking classes and, in cooperation with city restaurants, double food stamps and WICK programs.
