 An ident is a video identification of a channel that advertises the different programs
to an audience by introducing the next program and showing a time schedule of the
shows that are coming on. It usually lasts about 10-20 secs and is normally animated
creating a target which carries out different elements to specific audiences. These
elements inform the audience on what the show contents and who its suited for e.g.
(channel 4 often have programs based off realism such as gangs, crimes and e.t.c
which would usually show in they idents)

How idents changed
•Idents has change tremendously over years, they came from
being quite plain, boring, black and white still images to more
experience color, memorable, clever designs seen today.
Because the technology has improved over time the indents
have also improved as well giving us a clear view of what it
looks like.
Past idents
The different between the idents
 The difference between the new idents is
that it has a cool retro edge to it
 while the old ident is a lot more easy and
simple to see. This shows that they need
to keep champing and improving the idents
to keep their viewers interested and
engaged.
 The BBC one idents is created to represent the globe in
different forms. It is use in different times of the year to
introduce programs by giving a full time schedule of what’s on,
the scheduling is very important as of different times of the
day you will get different amounts of viewers. Without these
idents viewers can become very confused.
 This makes it impossible to tell the next program on.

The design of the ident
 BBC One idents have always been plain and
simple because the taxes goes to the company
which allows them to keep it plain by not
spending much for the idents but on the
shows. They ident density is an empty screen
with on information but their brand name.
 BBC Three ident is created to show a completely separate space
in the multi-channel world by provide an innovative content to a
younger audience which focuses on dealing with new programs,
talent and technology. Most of the channel content contains
many genres such as current affairs, dramas, comedy animation
and e.t.c. The logo is an element of BBC three’s identity which
is designed and developed using a three dimensional software.
The design/target audiences of
idents
 BBC three usually involves innovative comedy, entertainment, drama,
documentaries (e.g. Getting an insight of other peoples life story) and
cartoon figures. It first starts with no music playing then shows three
as a magic number this interacts with the viewer by making them feel
like they are part of this new experience.The ident mostly appeal to
young adults around the ages of 16-34 aiming more at females
because of the colour, design and most of programs being watched.
 They idents mostly show the screen almost empty with just the brand
name meaning that the density of information is low.
 MTV idents has always remained the same since the channel’s
incarnation back in 1981 and what the idents showed in the earlier
days was that MTV can be seen anywhere in the world in whatever
location. This idea has been changed but the logo always remained
the same, in the current ident, instead of the location being seen
everywhere the focus is now a born genre that MTV can focus on
any music genre and bring the best for their fans.
 In the last year’s MTV decide to rebrand them international by
adding six more MTV music channels called MTV Dance, Hits, Rocks,
Shows, Base, and Classics. In order to make each channel's idents
suitably with an identifiable style, each channel was assigned its
own ident-designing studio.


 Each MTV channel ident is design and created to
represent the channel in different ways e.g. MTV
Dance shows an ident of a animated robot
dancing.The idents mostly appeal to young adults
between the ages of 16-35 showing bright dark
medium colour which keep the audience entertain
and fascinated.
