1. To know God as the absolute truth -"I am the
way, the truth and the life" (Jn 14:6)
2. To love God:
a. above all things (First Commandment)
b. ". . . with all your heart, with all your
soul, and with all your mind" (Mt 22:37)
c. ". as He has loved us" - with a spirit of
sacrifice (Jn 15:12)
d. unconditionally - "No greater love a man
has than to lay down his life for his
friend" (Jn 15:13)
3. To serve God
a. with acts of charity towards
our neighbor - "Whatever you do
to the least of your brothers, you
do unto Me.”(Mt 25:40)
b. with humility (Mt 6:3)
c. even in trials and persecution -
". . . if anyone strikes you on the
right cheek, turn and offer him
the other." (Mt 5:39)
Jesus taught us that in order to
go to Heaven, we have to do to
God's will. He also taught us
that we must always accept
him as our Lord, even until
death, and to always humble
our selves under God, such as
little children.
Jesus is our Savior. He has great
love for us all and wants to bring
forth the best in all of us. He
wants us to be pure, to be holy
and to be happy. He wants us to
go to Heaven with him in Eternal
life. This is why he accepted his
death without hesitation and
sacrificed himself for our sins. He
died for me, for you, and for all of
humanity.
Prayer
a. How should I pray? Pray from the heart.
b. How often should I pray?
"As often as the beating of your heart." - Saint Escriva.
We should live in the spirit of prayer by maintaining a
constant communication with God throughout the day.
c. "Ora et Labora" - "Ora est Labora". Our daily offering
of all our prayers, actions and sacrifices makes a big
difference because everything takes on a spiritual value.
We maintain Christ's presence in everything we do.
Sacrifice
a. "Do ordinary things extra-
ordinarily.“
b. "The measure of love is sacrifice.
The greater the sacrifice, the
greater the love. The lesser the
sacrifice, the lesser the love." -
St. Alphonsus Liguori.
2. It is in knowing Him, loving Him,
serving Him and being united with
Him that we can be holy and
achieve perfect happiness in
HEAVEN.
1. It is by the will of God that all of us
be holy in whatever state of life we
are called. Cf. I Thess. 4:3, Matt. 5:48
3. It is basically by way of the cross that
holiness or spiritual progress passes by
and there is no holiness without
renunciation and spiritual battle, hence,
the need for constant prayers.
