11. Chose your topic/lesson Open Microsoft PowerPoint Decide if you want to use a theme or individual backgrounds (you can always change this later) Begin Making Your Presentation
12.
13. On the Design tab of your Ribbon: You will find a group named Themes – chose from any of these designs. Notice that as you pass your pointer over each choice it gives you a preview of the design. Something different with ‘07 PowerPoint: * Notice the Page Setup group – you can have your presentation the normal landscape way or switch to portrait! Choosing a Theme
14. Even if you chose a theme – you can always change the background on one individual slide in your presentation. Right click on the slide of your choice and chose Format Background. Follow the steps given. Remember – if you want to make a picture the full background it must be saved on your computer or flash drive. On the DESIGN tab – go the Background group – then choose background styles, format background. Changing the background
21. Click on the Insert Tab and then chose Picture on the Illustrations group. You will need to know where the file is saved and then just choose that file and click open. The file will then insert onto your slide – you can edit that picture to fit your slide. Inserting a Picture continued

26. Inserting videos is a little complex but a wonderful tool for both teaching assistant presentations and student based webquests. You can insert a link to a web video – do this using your hyperlink option. You can also insert the video straight into your presentation! You are still using the Insert tab for this. At the far right of the Ribbon you will see the group Media Clips. * If you insert a video into your presentation you have to make sure you have the video saved on your computer/flash drive first. Inserting Videos
27. Click on Movie Chose Movie from File Locate your file and insert. You can change the size of your video Chose to have your video start automatically – or- when clicked An Inserted Video An example of an inserted video . You will need to click the video to begin watching.
28. A fun new tool with ‘07 PowerPoint!! I LOVE it! In the past when you wanted to narrate your presentation you had to record your voice through another program and then insert the sound. Microsoft has made it so easy now! On the Slide Show Tab you will see a group called Set Up. To narrate your presentation – chose Record Narration. * You will need a microphone to do this. Some computers have a built in microphone – or you will need one that is plugged into your computer! Adding Voice
29. This option will only be used if you want your presentation to advance on it’s own – without your help. This is good just for previewing. I don’t recommend using this when developing a teaching assistant tool or even a student webquest. You will be on the Slide Show Tab – chose Rehearse timings, etc. Just follow the steps given. Timing your presentation
