2. Psalm 121:1-2
I look up to the mountains—
does my help come from there?
My help comes from the LORD,
who made heaven and earth!
3. Someone once said,
The brain is a wonderful thing.
It never stops working from
the time you are born until the
moment you get up to speak.

"Get up and get dressed. Go
out, and tell them whatever I
tell you to say. Do not be afraid
of them...”

Join the club!
Veteran speakers suffer the same fate
“I still have butterflies in my stomach;
I just make them fly in formation.”
7. Experienced Speakers

performance self-evaluation

world

you are

Oh, don't worry; I wouldn't dare say that I am as
wonderful as these other men who tell you how
important they are! But they are only comparing
themselves with each other, and measuring
themselves by themselves. What foolishness!
God & His Word will show the truth
about ourselves.
19. Reflected Appraisal Theory
You believe what you think others think about
you
Do you really know what other people think?
Could it be a person could be self-absorbed?
A scowl or strange look from someone in the
class may not be directed towards you
If someone does not applaud, does that mean
anything?
20. Selective Self-Verification
“No one hates his own body but lovingly cares for it…”
Ephesians 5:29a

the “F,” because “everyone else did bad on the test too.”
Protecting our self-concept: Choose what we want to
believe and throw out the rest
21. The Bible gives us the way He
views us
Genesis 1:27

them after himself; male and female he created them.”

Adam's sin brought death, so death spread to everyone,
for everyone sinned.” Romans 5:12

22. God made a way for the
atonement of our sins!
But God showed his great love for us by
sending Christ to die for us while we were still
sinners. And since we have been made right in
God's sight by the blood of Christ, he will
certainly save us from God's judgment.
Romans 5:8-9
23. Trust Jesus with your talents &
abilities. He will take care of it all.
But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to
put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak
things of the world to put to shame the things which
are mighty; and the base things of the world and the
things which are despised God has chosen, and the
things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that
are, that no flesh should glory in His presence.
1 Corinthians 1:27
24. Knowing what the Lord thinks of
what His creation must go through…
But this precious treasure--this light and power that now shine
within us--is held in perishable containers, that is, in our weak
bodies. So everyone can see that our glorious power is from
God and is not our own. We are pressed on every side by
troubles, but we are not crushed and broken. We are perplexed,
but we don't give up and quit. We are hunted down, but God
never abandons us. We get knocked down, but we get up again
and keep going. Through suffering, these bodies of ours
constantly share in the death of Jesus so that the life of Jesus
may also be seen in our bodies.
2 Corinthians 4:7-10

26. We Need to Value the Way God
Values
Don't be concerned about the outward beauty that
depends on fancy hairstyles, expensive jewelry, or
beautiful clothes.
You should be known for the beauty that comes
from within, the unfading beauty of a gentle and
quiet spirit, which is so precious to God.
1 Peter 3:3-4
