In the process of recognizing the role of libraries in Kenya, Maktaba award similar to the company of the year award event is usually organized annually to award a library that has provided information and services professionally and integrated emerging technology in provision of library information and services to its clients.
The award include various categories such as: Public,libraries,Academic libraries(Univ&colleges) School libraries and community libraries.
In 2017 KICD ECD library won the overall prize and was the winner in special library category.
