Jan Eirik Nilsskog has worked on many engineering projects including bridges and industrial facilities. Some of his notable projects include the Grimsrud Bridges in Norway from 1997, the Raftsundet Bridge in 1999 which had the world's longest span of 298 meters at the time, and the Sundoya Bridge in 2003 which had the second longest span in the world.
