This document provides information about the Opportunity Quest entrepreneurship competition hosted by the University of Utah. It summarizes that the competition deadline is January 16th at midnight and rewards teams for identifying business assumptions, testing them with customers, and pivoting based on results. Over $10,000 in cash prizes will be awarded, with the top prize being $3,000. Submissions will be judged on identification and testing of assumptions, ability to iterate based on learnings, progress in developing a business model, and validating customer needs. The top scoring submissions will advance to further rounds of judging. Help and examples are available on the sponsor's website.
5. Judging Criteria
• 25% – Clear identification of
assumptions, description of assumption tests, and
findings
• 25% – Team’s ability to iterate and pivot based on
your process of discovery
• 25% – Progress made in arriving at a “nailed”
business model
• 25% – Knowledge of a bona fide pain substantiated
by customer discovery and development

Submitted on the same form as the BMC
• Option 1: Check the box on the BMC submission form
to use your same BMC presentation

video and executive summary for the OQ.

The three keys to the BMC – identifyassumptions, test assumptions with customers, pivot – can serve as the outline foryour presentation.* You presentations should be synced with audio so that you can talk us through thestory.
