La capital del Ecuador fue declarada
Patrimonio de la Humanidad en 1978,
año en que la UNESCO hizo su
primera selección de los sitios que el
hombre debe proteger como parte de
su memoria.

5. GALÁPAGOS
• Las islas Galápagos fueron
declaradas Patrimonio Natural
de la Humanidad en 1978 y
seis años después reserva de
la Biosfera. Este un grupo
relativamente joven de ínsulas

erupciones volcánicas que
hicieron emerger picos de
hasta 5.600 metros de altitud.

• Declarado Patrimonio Natural de
la Humanidad en 1983.Con una
amplia extensión de tierra,
518,000 hectáreas, el Parque
Nacional Sangay, abarca una

paisajes y ecosistemas, que se
mezclan de forma fluida entre sí,
como las montañas cubiertas de
nieve hasta las exuberantes
tierras bajas a continuación.

El pueblo zápara vive en una región de
la selva amazónica situada entre el Perú
y Ecuador. Afincados en una de las
regiones del mundo más ricas en
biodiversidad, los záparas son los
últimos representantes de un grupo
etnolingüístico que comprendía muchas
otras poblaciones antes de la conquista
española.

Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity
(originally proclaimed in 2001) Countries:
Ecuador, Peru Zápara The people live in
a region of the Amazon rainforest located

one of the world's richest regions in
biodiversity, the Zaparo are the last
representatives of an ethnolinguistic
group that included many other
populations before the Spanish conquest.

ecuatoriano” es un nuevo
reconocimiento de Patrimonio
de la Humanidad con el que
cuenta el Ecuador, título
concedido por la UNESCO,
que el 5 de diciembre de 2012
incluyó a esta manifestación,
que se ha mantenido durante
siglos, dentro de la Lista
Representativa del Patrimonio
Cultural Inmaterial de la
Humanidad.
