                       Supporting Service Children
                        A Multi-Agency Approach
 
    This is a unique opportunity for those working with Service Children and their families to attend an intensive
    two day course in Buckinghamshire. This course will review current research and practice to offer an
    overview of the key context in which Service Children live. We will also focus on the potential implications,
    both academic and holistic that may result from this context and look at ways of mitigating these. The course
    will be suitable for all professionals who work with Service children and their families and is run in
    conjunction with Buckinghamshire County Council Children’s Services, Service Children Support Network
    (SCSN), Halton School, Child Bereavement UK and Solent NHS Trust.
    Who Should Attend   
 
     




       Headteachers, Teachers, Student Teachers and Support Staff;  School Governors;
       Child and Adolescence Mental Health Professionals;                   Health and Welfare Professionals;
       Early Years Practitioners;                                           University Lecturers;
 
       Local Authority Advisors;                                            Social Workers;
       Unit Welfare Officers and Community Development Officers;            Hive Coordinators;
       Civilian and Military Charities and Welfare Organisations.           Other members of the Military; 
    Course Dates                       24th and 25th September 2013 on a B&B Residential or Non-Residential basis

    Course Aims
       To provide an overview of the context in which the children and families of HM Forces live;
       To provide an overview of the complex issues that relate to these children and families;
    

        To underpin the course with current research;
       To consider the implications for schools and professionals who work with these children and families;
       To provide examples of good practice and intervention strategies;
       To sign post to other organizations;
 
       To celebrate the positive aspects of Military life.
 
    Specifically the ability to:
 
    Knowledge and Understanding (KU)                            Key Skills (KS)
       Understand the context within which the children and  Access appropriate resources using a range of
        families of HM Forces live;                                 media including information and communications
       Understand the range of support on offer for military       technology (ICT);

    Course Cost                     £400 to include all input, handouts and lunch for non-residential delegates

PAYMENT
You will be automatically invoiced for the course fee with invoices sent out for payment approximately 1 week prior to the
course date. By completing and returning this form you will be authorising automatic invoicing for the course fee should
the application be accepted.
CANCELLATION
You will remain liable for payment of 100% of the course fees for non-attendance on the course, or cancellations
within three weeks prior to the course. All cancellations must be made in writing as soon as the applicant is aware that
they are unable to attend. Should the named delegate be unable to attend we are able to substitute them for another
delegate without additional charge.
