In this activity, you will model the square of a binomial through paper folding. Investigate the pattern
that can be produced in this activity. This pattern will help you find the square of a binomial easily. You
can do this individually or with a partner.
Directions:
Get a square paper measuring 8” × 8”.
1. Fold the square paper 1” with from an edge and make a crease.
2. Fold the upper right corner by 1” and make a crease.
3. Unfold the paper.
4. Continue the activity by creating another model for squaring a binomial
by changing the measures of the folds to 2 in. and 3 in. Then answer the questions below.

Observation/Insights
I felt blessed that I have been to Singapore for 3 days last year courtesy of my wife because she was
invited by her cousin who lived and work there together with her husband and their two kids. During
those times of my visit I was really impressed on Singapore’s urban planning. It seems everything were
patiently planned and designed in such a way that every square meter of their total land area was
properly utilized. Their office buildings, Industrial sites, housings, recreation centers, malls, botanical
gardens, tourist destinations (etc.) were carefully arranged in strategic places to maximize the efficiency
of their transportation system (especially the MRT and LRT System) and thereby getting fast and easy
transport from one point of destination to another. It also avoids waste of time from traffic going to
their workplaces to and fro.
Not counting their Changi International Airport which is one of the best in the world. What an
impressive feat for a tiny island nation like Singapore, only one third the size of the total land area of
Davao City. How I wish our beloved country would achieve what Singapore has reached today or
perhaps surpassed them in terms of economic success. I think the K to 12 program of DepEd is a big step
forward on realizing that dream, guiding and preparing school kids to become advance learners and be
highly competitive in their chosen field while molding others to become our future leaders and good
decision makers someday taking the reign and make our nation great.

GENERAL GUIDELINES FOR THE ASSESSMENT AND RATING OF LEARNING OUTCOMES

The levels of assessments are defined as follows;
1. Knowledge - the substantive content of the curriculum, the facts and information that the
students acquire.
2. Process – skills of cognitive operations that the student performs on the facts and information for
the purpose of constructing meaning and understandings.
3. Understandings – enduring big ideas, principles and generalizations inherent to the discipline,
which may be assessed using the facets of understanding or other indications of understanding
which may be specific to the discipline.
4. Products/Performance – real life applications of understanding as evidenced by the student’s
performance of authentic tasks.
The level of proficiency at which the students is performing shall be based on a numerical value which is
arrived at after summing up the results of the student’s performance on the assessments. The numerical
values are as follows:

Beginning 74% and above
Developing 75 – 79%
Approaching Proficiency 80 – 84%
Proficient 85 – 89
Advanced 90% above
Note: All the assessment rating calculations are based only on my own understanding of DepEd Order no. 73 s
2012. Any comments, suggestions or correction for the improvement of this project/assignment are very much
welcome.

During those times of my visit I was really impressed on Singapore’s urban planning. Their office buildings, Industrial sites, housings, recreation centers, malls, botanical gardens, tourist destinations (etc.) were carefully arranged in strategic places to maximize the efficiency of their transportation system (especially the MRT and LRT System) and thereby getting fast and easy transport from one point of destination to another. It also avoids waste of time from traffic going to their workplaces to and fro. Not counting their Changi International Airport which is one of the best in the world. What an impressive feat for a tiny island nation like Singapore, only one third the size of the total land area of Davao City. How I wish our beloved country would achieve what Singapore has reached today or perhaps surpassed them in terms of economic success. I think the K to 12 program of DepEd is a big step forward on realizing that dream, guiding and preparing school kids to become advance learners and be highly competitive in their chosen field while molding others to become our future leaders and good decision makers someday taking the reign and make our nation great.

Knowledge - the substantive content of the curriculum, the facts and information that the students acquire. 2. Process – skills of cognitive operations that the student performs on the facts and information for the purpose of constructing meaning and understandings. 3. Understandings – enduring big ideas, principles and generalizations inherent to the discipline, which may be assessed using the facets of understanding or other indications of understanding which may be specific to the discipline. 4. Products/Performance – real life applications of understanding as evidenced by the student’s performance of authentic tasks. The level of proficiency at which the students is performing shall be based on a numerical value which is arrived at after summing up the results of the student’s performance on the assessments.
