Agenda
3. • The confidentiality and privacy of your organization’s
mission-critical information rests on how secure you make
your site.
• Granting and restricting access to your site is called
managing permissions
SharePoint Permissions management
4. • Principle of Least Privilege: Give people the lowest
permission levels they need to perform their assigned
tasks.
• Give people access by adding them to standard, default
groups.
• Use permissions inheritance to create a clean, easy-to-
visualize hierarchy.
Best practices
5. • There are predefined default permission levels.
• By design, all the sites and site content in a collection inherit
the permissions settings of the root or top-level site.
SharePoint Permission Levels
6. • We can
• add new permission level choosing the permissions,
• create group
• and assign users.
• All items are security trimmed, Search will not find the items
that you do not have the permission to see.
SharePoint Permission
7. • External sharing features of SharePoint Online to share
content with people outside your organization
• External sharing is controlled at both the tenant level
(global settings that affect all of SharePoint Online) and the
site collection level.
• Site collection level restriction should be always more than
the tenant level restriction.
Manage External Sharing
8. • Don’t allow sharing outside your organization
• Allow sharing only with the external users that already exist
in your organization’s directory
• Allow users to invite and share with authenticated external
users
• Allow sharing to authenticated external users and using
anonymous access
External Sharing Options
9. Display the Create site command on the SharePoint Home
page so users can create new sites in the location you specify.
Manage Site Creation
10. • This allows or prevents users from creating site pages in
team sites.
Creation on Site Pages in Teams Site
11. • Storage for organization: 1 TB (plus 0.5 GB per license
purchased – Depending on the license)
• Storage for site collections: 25TB by default
• No need to split up storage space or reallocate space based
on usage. That's all handled automatically.
Manage site collection storage limits
12. When you do, SharePoint Online disregards any existing limits
you previously set on your site collections and reset them all to
1 TB.
Pooled Storage Model
13. SharePoint Lists and Libraries experience
Classic Experience
• Usual user experience from SharePoint 2013.
Modern Experience
• Faster, displays better in mobile browsers, and is easier to use
14. • Some organizations establish a requirement that files must
be checked out before they can be edited.
• Prevents multiple users from overwriting one another’s
changes to files and provides a clear version history when
versioning is enabled on the files.
Check-in Checkout before editing
