AN INTELLIGENT APPROACH TO MANAGEMENT RECRUITING
Office Locations
Washington DC ~ Philadelphia ~ Seattle ~ Richmond ~ New York ~ Greensboro
Retail-iQ’s founding partners envisioned a new breed of management
recruiting – a practice where the disciplines and processes of executive level
search are applied to recruiting outstanding talent at all levels of the
organization. To accomplish this, Retail-iQ begins each and every search
with the important (and very often neglected) first-step of understanding your
organization before developing position specifications and embarking upon
the search. Simply put, Retail-iQ is a more intelligent approach to
management recruiting aligned with your business strategy.
Retail-iQ ’s personalized and focused
approach provides you with a portfoli o of
qualified candidates,
not a pile of resumes.

Founders COMPANY FOUNDERS
William (Bill) Reffett founded Retail-iQ with Gary Preston after a notable venture
together building Preston|Reffett – a successful executive search practice
operating across North America today. Previously, Bill worked more than 10 years
developing a reputable search practice, Reffett & Associates. Bill’s firm
successfully identified and placed key executive leaders for premier retailers
across the United States.
Prior to establishing Reffett & Associates, Bill was vice president and partner with
Korn/Ferry International. Before becoming a search consultant, Bill Reffett was SVP
of human resources for Grand Union – a major East Coast food retailer. In his
human resources role, he supervised executive development, training, recruiting,
and labor relations. Prior to joining Grand Union, Bill held key executive
leadership positions in human resources and operations for Frederick and
Nelson.
Bill received his Bachelor of Science in engineering from West Point Military
Academy and his law degree from Capital University. He is also a graduate of the
U.S. Army War College and served five years as an army officer. He currently
serves on the Boards of several local Seattle non-profit organizations and is an
adjunct professor for a Texas-based University.
Gary Preston entered the search and consulting arena from his position as business
transformation officer and chief information officer for one of the world’s largest food
retailers. In his evolving roles, he has re-engineered a $250-million IT operation, founded a cutting-edge
indirect spend management sourcing company, led successful business units with direct P&L responsibility and
held the position of executive human resources officer for more than a decade.
A maverick in orchestrating business strategy and organizing talent around it, Gary speaks often on the topic of
leadership and how executives derail. He has also served as executive coach for emerging leaders, and is
active on boards of both public and privately held companies. He is a college graduate with his Masters of
Science in Human Resources from Ohio State University.
