1. Samsung seemed to be following its previous pricing strategy it did with Samsung
Galaxy S3 last year to attract more consumers and to encourage Samsung users to
upgrade their devices.
2. Samsung's Galaxy S3 was introduced with the same strategy. A 16GB Galaxy S3
device with contract was priced $199. Galaxy S3 32GB device was introduced at
$299, comparatively cheaper than iPhone 5's 32GB device.
3.The S4 sold 4 million units in 5 days and sold a total of
6 million in 15 days; this is the fastest selling
smartphone in Samsung's history
4. To draw pre-paid and post-paid customers with
lucrative rates, Samsung has also tied up with
Vodafone. The five-inch display Galaxy S4, which has a
13-megapixel back-camera and a two-megapixel front
camera, would take on Apple’s IPhone 5 (priced at Rs
45,500), the BlackBerry Z10 (Rs 43,490), the HTC One
(Rs 42,990), the Nokia Lumia 920 (Rs 38,262), Sony
XPeria Z (Rs 38,990) and the HTC Butterfly (Rs 45,990).
All of the methods of communication that a marketer may use to provide
information to different parties about the product. Promotion comprises
elements such as: advertising, public relations, personal selling and sales
Advertising covers any communication that is paid for, from cinema
commercials, radio and Internet advertisements through print media and
billboards. Public relations is where the communication is not directly paid for
and includes press releases, sponsorship
deals, exhibitions, conferences, seminars or trade fairs and events.
Word-of-mouth is any apparently informal communication about the product
by ordinary individuals, satisfied customers or people specifically engaged to
create word of mouth momentum.
Advertisement on television
Refers to providing the product at a place which is convenient
for consumers to access. Various strategies such as intensive
distribution, selective distribution, exclusive distribution
and franchising can be used by the marketer to complement the
other aspects of the marketing mix.
