2. Objective 1 RATIONALE Office Practicum is generally designed to give to students an introduction to the workplace and a more realistic view and assessment of a possible career. This is to provide students with knowledge and experience rather than financial cooperation. This is to introduce the student to a potential field of employment. This is designed to teach students skills that are generally considered useful in the workplace such us punctuality, working, effectively with other people and responsibility. This is also a first-hand look at the type of work and work environment we could expect if we are to pursue this specific career.
3. The office practicum will help us attain our expectations and will let us realize the importance of the job inclining. It will let us identify the type of business, the physical characteristics of the company and to learn from the employees and supervisor as well. It will also help us overcome the blocks and difficulties as we go along the way. Generally, this is to enhance the skills of the students in our field of study and this is designed to give students supervised practical application of a previously studied theory. The student is introduced to a specific challenges and responsibilities that a particular occupation would entail.
4. EXPECTATIONS Our primary expectation in this subject is to learn more on banking transactions and to put in actions what we’ve learned from our major subjects for the past years. We also expected that the officer in charge of the practicumers will facilitate the student’s progress through the stages of observation, co-facilitation (where appropriate), and independent intervention, guide the student through site orientation, including familiarization with the rules, regulations, and procedures of the placement setting.
5. In relation to banking, managing and financing, we are expecting to be able to perform the task properly, to be able to handle the circumstances that we will encounter during the internship and to be able blend in the bank’s culture. In addition, we are also expecting to have a good working relationship with the employees. Lastly, by the end of our internship we are hoping that we may be able to enhance our skills and knowledge. So that the things we learned will acquire will be able to make us a better person in preparation for the real world after graduation.
6. Objective 2 The importance of office practicum to us as future finance personnel gives us an idea and background about our future fields as we are nearly leaving the university. It will give us learning about our field of specialization. It helps us enhance our skills and let us gain knowledge during the internship. It is also important for us to learn how to deal with other people in a professional manner. It would develop our attitude in handling situation in the future. It can build up our confidence in doing basic activities and tasks related to finance.
7. Office Practicum is also important to us because it gives an overview of what would it be in the real world. It helps me to be prepared in my future career. It also helps us to experience the real working scenario in a financial institution. The things we will learn with this Office Practicum would be a great help for me in the future because we already know what to do and it will help us a familiarize the tasks to do if soon if I will be working in a Bank.

Objective 3NATURE/TYPE OF THE BUSINESS Bank of Commerce is a financial institution which performs banking operations such as savings and checking accounts, time deposits, loans, bill payments, ATM accounts and many more. They also monitor the clients’ investment portfolio to ensure appropriate asset allocation and diversification
9. PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS Bank of Commerce provides a total package designed to suit the needs of the clients. They optimize capital earnings through professional fund management at minimal opening investment. They fulfill various responsibilities within the lender-borrower arrangement, ensuring the systematic and timely execution of administrative task and duties.
10. EMPLOYEES’/SUPERVISOR’S RAPPORT The employees’ of the Bank of Commerce are career-oriented and friendly. They are very approachable. They taught us about their works. They make us feel that we belong or we are part of the company. But some officers at the bank were not that approachable. Some were moody and frowning.

LIST OF TASKS PERFORMED We able to do a lot of things such us: Filing Bank Statements and Banking transaction forms Clearing of checks Balancing of SSS, VECO and VISA payments Balancing of Statement of accounts Scanning of the bank transaction forms and checks Answering the telephone Printing and Photocopying Counting and Repacking of Coins Wrapping the bills Writing the serial no. of Dollar Bills Call outs Encoding the MCWD report Faxing
12. DIFFICULTIES ENCOUNTERED Some of us encountered difficulties in balancing the SSS pension and other forms because the papers were too bulky. It is also difficult for us to use the printer because it is defective; it took time for us to fix it.

COMMENTS/SUGGESTION New Computer and Printer for everyday maintenance on the computer To have a Photocopy machine They will just accept four or less practicumers because it was very hard for us to find a task(Due to Overcrowding) To have an In-House Trainor/Officer to handle separately On-the-Job Trainees so that Practicumers are utilized well.
14. WAYS OF OVERCOMING BLOCKS We will overcome the blocks by being open-minded. Be patience enough. We should ask for help to the employee to the things we don’t understand. Be optimistic Be confident Should have a strategy to overcome your blocks
