confinement, or the willful deprivation of
services which are necessary to maintain a
person’s physical and mental health.
3. Elder Abuse
The mistreatment or neglect of an elderly
person usually by a relative or other
caregiver. It may or may not be intentional
and an older adult will often suffer several
forms of abuse and neglect at the same time.

6. Child Abuse
The mistreatment or neglect of a child that
results in harm or injury. It seriously
damages the child’s self-esteem and inhibits
healthy emotional development of the child.

abuse. It is not a gender issue, but a power
and control issue.
