Preparing for a public speech/presentation Kam Hashim www.kamhashim.com 8 Key areas should be considered are: General scope of the speech (understand time, place, audiences, goals) Communications skills (use right language, non-verbal communications) Subject/Topic (knowledge about subject a must, spend time research topic) Audiences (get demographic info, know what they want, anticipate questions) Speech goals (develop personal goals will build confidence) Content (create & organize content efficiently, appropriate number of points) Delivery (rehearse, clarity, professional style, use visual aid/tools, illustrate personal experiences, call for action) Feedback (post presentation)

Tips to control stage fright Kam Hashim www.kamhashim.com 11 Do not over think your speech Do not rush into speech (take time to make eye contact with the audiences; pause, stretch prior to delivery) Begin speech with friendly greetings (humor if appropriate) Be confident (not over confident) Practice, practice, practice (i.e. emphasis on difficult words, names, practice key examples)
