climate science centre
 Facebook just launched the Climate Science Information Center, a dedicated space within
the app and website to provide users with climate education and resources.
 Facebook’s Climate Science Information Center boasts facts about the ways our climate has
changed and will continue to change, tips on how you can lower your environmental
impact, a list of recognized climate organizations you can follow on Facebook, articles and
videos from various news outlets, and more
 Facebook tells Green Matters it is “committed to tackling climate misinformation,” and the
company is partnered with more than 70 independent fact-checking groups from around
the globe.
 Basically, the Climate Science Information Center is a news feed away from your news feed
filled with climate information — and a much lower risk of encountering misinformation (or

PRIVACY AND POLICY OF FACEBOOK
 Privacy and the protection of personal information are fundamentally
important values for Facebook
 We work hard to safeguard your personal identity and information
and we do not allow people to post personal or confidential information
about yourself or of others.
 Facebook keeps data until it's "no longer necessary" or you delete your
account. Different kinds of data expire at different rates, such as search
history clearing after six months. Users' Facebook control panels allow
earlier or more targeted deletion or editing of personal data.
HASAN
27
What are the privacy issues with
Facebook?
 In 2020, Facebook paid another $550 million to settle a
privacy lawsuit involving allegations that the company
violated an Illinois state law that requires companies to get
permission from users to store their biometric data, which
include data that links faces to individual identities

FEATURES
 Features Sign up without a Facebook account (December 2012) Android users can sign
up to the app without a Facebook account, requiring only a name and phone number.
 Direct messaging(October 2013) Users can send messages to other users without the
requirement of being friends, as long as the user has the phone number of the other
user in their contact list.
 Chat Heads(April 2013) Displays a round icon with a contact's profile photo, appearing
on the screen regardless of which app is open.
 Calls(January 2013) Facebook added voice calling to Messenger users in Canada,
expanding the feature to users in the United States a few days later.
 In April 2015, Facebook introduced video calling in select countries. In April 2016, group
voice calling was introduced, with a maximum number of 50 call participants.
 Facebook's reactions on top of their face, users are able to capture screenshots, and live
filters can change the color or lighting in the feed.
KEERTHANA
30
ADVANTAAGES OF MESSENGER
 It seamlessly connects people, cutting across territories.
 Work reports, project estimates etc can be shared in chat session
instantaneously
 The video calling facility ingrained in almost all the business messaging
apps facilitates participants to share ideas, exchange docs and get
conclusions in a jiffy.
 It allows for conducting a virtual conference without bothering to huddle
all the team members physically at one place.
 Integration with third-party apps allows users of business chat platforms to
download hundreds of apps without leaving the platform or accessing play
store.
AISHWARYA
31
DISADVANTAGES OF MESSENGER
 Users cannot be sure of who they are talking to through IM. It can be
pretty dangerous if they are not careful.
 Moreover, users may be hoodwinked into the identity of the person on the
other side of the chat. Impersonation, which cannot be ascertained, can
prove detrimental when vital information is being shared.
 There is no denying the fact that exchange of info is instant, but face to
face contact being absent, instant messengers deteriorate into just
machines. Personal bonding among team members seems to be lost.
