- we’re here to talk about “green”, and what it means to us, and where we all go next. what we’ve done, what green looks like, what LEED looks like Talk what it means for you with your potential clients, how you respond when someone asks “how do i make it green” this is the stuff you need to know to look smart.
- we’re a mid-sized architecture firm, in business for 4 years. upstairs in the old port. primarily residential, new construction, renovation, multi-family
- and then we have this. how many of these have you all seen in your careers?
- it’s got some big problems. The famous line is that we’re burning oil we bought from people who don’t like us with money borrowed from china.
- and it’s changing our climate. numbers look really bad. current track is 5 - 10 feet higher ocean levels by 2100. no higgins or scarborough beach, but also no maine state pier to worry about
- and to top it all off, this thing is loud, it stinks, you have to store 275 gallons of toxic goo in your basement, and it’s so expensive to run you keep your thermostat at 65 all winter. we’re here to tell you, THERE’S ANOTHER WAY.

- now, part of what we do is design custom homes. this one’s in Falmouth, on the water. this is a fun part of our business.

- save energy, yes, but amazing thing is increased comfort. stand next to window on a freezing winter day, and you are warm and cozy. it’s hard to imagine if you haven’t been in a house with them.
