Free? Nothing is really free. If you’re
using a service for ‘free’ then you’re
probably the product.
OK, fair enough. So I get to use the
platform in exchange for targeted
advertising.
Correct. But there’s more to it…

annoy, harass, bully, impersonate, theaten…
blah blah blah!
Well, yeah, that’s all common sense
Besides, I can just customize my privacy
settings if I have any issues
Yes. But what you might not realize, is
Instagram reserves the right to keep your
photos even after you terminate your
account

How did you find all this information?
It’s on the Terms of Use. Here are some
things you really should know…
 You must comply with the terms of service. If you don’t agree, don’t use
the service
 YOU are responsible for everything that is posted on your Instagram
account. It’s common sense!
 Instagram does not own your content, but does have the right to store it
 The terms of use can change from time to time
 You should also consider the implications of ‘third-parties’ and how
that might affect you

5. OK, so I had a look at their Privacy
Statement and found out that Instagram
reserves the right to share my information
with third-parties.
…for targeted ad campaigns. Nothing is
free
Sure, but I do get to share all my photos
with friends and family. The third-party
sharing with other social media platforms
is rather convenient.
Totally… sometimes the targeted ads send
me content I am actually interested in. I
don’t find it annoying

So the basic rules:
 Instagram is pretty much a neutral platform that facilitates your
communications
 So be nice, courteous, and remember your audience
 If you post a photo of someone else’s work, then give them credit
 Be responsible for your own actions
 And in return, capture and share the worlds moments
