WANNA FLY FREE”. OUR MAIN IDEA IS THAT THE
ARTIST WAS TIED DOWN AND UNABLE TO GO OUT AS
A RESULT OF HER STRICT PARENTS. THE TITLE
‘KAMIKAZE’ INDICATES THAT SHE IS A SELF
DESTRUCTING BOMB WHICH IS EXPLOITING AS A
RESULT OF HER PARENTS KEEPING HER LOCKED IN.
“I NEED TO GET IN TOO DEEP”, SHE DOESN'T JUST
WANT TO BE FREE, SHE WANTS TO PUT HER LIFE ON
THE LINE WHICH COULD LEAD TO DEATH IN ORDER TO
PROVE A POINT TO HER PARENTS. WE WILL SHOW
HER REBELLING THROUGH A VARIETY OF DEVIANT
ACTS.
CONCEPT
3. THE STYLE OF OUR MUSIC VIDEO WILL TAKE
THE FORM OF A NARRATIVE VIDEO. WE HAVE
CHOSEN THIS IN ORDER TO PORTRAY THE
STORY IN ORDER TO REPRESENT THE SONG
CORRECTLY. THE LYRICS OF THIS SONG
HAVE A PARTICULAR STORY THAT IS OPEN
TO INTERPRETATION AS IT ONLY SHOWS A
SENSE OF FREEDOM, THERE IS NO BACK
STORY INCLUDED. THIS HAS BEEN LEFT TO
US TO CREATE.
4. BEFORE THE MUSIC STARTS, THERE WILL
BE A SHORT INTRODUCTION THAT
BRIEFLY OUTLINES THE STORY BEHIND
THE SONG. OUR MAIN IDEA WAS TO SHOW
THE ARTIST ARGUING WITH HER PARENTS
WHICH RESULTS IN HER LEAVING THE
HOUSE PROMPTLY. THIS IDEA WILL
INDICATE THAT HER PARENTS RESTRICT
WHICH WILL LEAD TO HER CONDUCTING
A VARIETY OF DEVIANT ACTIONS THAT
WILL BE SHOWN DURING THE REST OF
THE SONG. ALONG WITH THIS, SHE WILL
ALSO BE SEEN TO ESCAPE FROM THE
HOUSE, SLAMMING THE DOORS AND
THROWING HER KEYS AWAY (DIEGETIC
SOUND) WHICH IS A TYPICAL TEENAGE
ACT AND IS ALSO A SIGN THAT SHE IS
REBELLING. THERE WILL ALSO BE A
CASE UP OF THE GIRL TO SHOW WHO THE
MAIN CHARACTER IS.

BEGINNING
5. THE PLOT - MIDDLE
THE MIDDLE OF THE MUSIC VIDEO
IS WHEN THE MOOD OF THE MUSIC
VIDEO ALTERS. IT BECOMES
UPBEAT AS DOES THE
CHARACTERS ACTIONS WHICH
WERE TRIGGERED BY THE
ARGUMENT WITH HER/HIS
PARENTS. SOME OF THE ACTS
THAT ARE INCLUDED ARE:
THROWING POWDERED PAINT
AROUND, IN A CLUB TAKING
SHOTS AND SMOKING, RUNNING
IN AN EMPTY FIELD. ALL OF THESE
ACTIONS INDICATE THAT THE
CHARACTER IS REBELLING FROM
THE OPPRESSION THAT THE
PARENTS CAUSED WHICH HAS
CREATED THE PERSONA TO
“NEVER GET ENOUGH” OF THE
“BUZZ” THAT THESE DEVIANT
ACTS CONSTRUCT.
6. THE PLOT - END
THE WAY THAT WE HAVE DECIDED TO END THIS
MUSIC VIDEO IS WITH A TRAGEDY AS A RESULT
OF ALL THESE DANGEROUS ACTS THAT THE
CHARACTER IS CONDUCTING. THE SONG IS
CALLED ‘KAMIKAZE’, WHICH IS THE TERM USED
FOR THE MILITARY AVIATORS OF JAPAN WHO
CONDUCTED SUICIDE ATTACKS. THIS
INDICATES THAT SHE/HE IS A SELF
DISTRACTION BOMB AS THE ARTIST PORTRAYS
THE CHARACTER AS NOT JUST SEEKING
GRATIFICATION, BUT GOES TO EXTREME IN
ORDER TO FEEL FULFILLED, “WE GOT ONE 'TIL
WE DIE, 'TIL WE DIE”. FROM THIS, WE HAVE
COME UP WITH THE IDEA THAT THESE ACTIONS
WILL CAUSE HIM/HER TO END THEIR LIVES
DURING THEIR MOMENT OF ‘FREEDOM’ WHICH
CREATES IRONY. THEREFORE THE SECTION AT
THE END OF THE VIDEO WILL SHOW THE MAIN
CHARACTER, PASSED OUT IN AN EMPTY FIELD
THAT ONCE MARKED HER FREEDOM BUT NOW
IS CLEAR THAT IT WAS A DEATH TRAP. THE
REASON IS DUE TO AN OVERDOSE ON ILLEGAL
DRUGS AND THE FRIENDS WILL TRY TO WAKE
HER/HIM UP IN THE MORNING, BUT THERE IS NO
RESPONSE. THIS WILL SHOW HOW THE
‘FREEDOM’ FROM THE OPPRESSION OF THE
PARENTS HAS ONLY LEAD TO MORE TROUBLE
AND AN ACCIDENTAL SUICIDE.

THE CHARACTERISTICS THAT OUR ARTIST WILL REFLECT IS THAT
SHE IS ISOLATED AND ANGRY WITH THE PARENTS AND HAS
CONSEQUENTLY LEAD TO RESORT TO A REBELLIOUS WAY OF
THINKING AND ACTING. THIS ISOLATION WILL BE PRESENTED IN
AN EMPTY ROOM WITH THE PERSON STANDING IN IT TRYING TO
ESCAPE AS THEY ARE TRAPPED WITHIN THEMSELVES. THIS WILL
SHOW ALIENATION AND THAT THEY ARE ALONE. WE WILL ALSO
CAPTURE THE ANGER BY USING A VARIETY OF EXTREME CLOSE-
UP SHOTS IN ORDER TO CAPTURE THE EXPRESSION PRESENTED
ON THE FACE.

LOCATIONS THAT WE HAVE
THOUGHT ABOUT USING FOR THIS
MUSIC MUSIC VIDEO. FIRSTLY, TO
START THE VIDEO, IT WILL BE
LOCATED IN A HOUSE WITH HER
PARENTS ARGUING. THE HOUSE
WILL SHOW THAT SHE THE
REASON FOR HER ACTIONS ARE
DERIVED FROM THE OPPRESSION
FELT IN THERE AND SO THE
LIGHTING IN THE HOUSE WILL BE
DARK AND GLOOMY. ALONG WITH
THIS, DURING THE DEVIANT ACTS,
THEY WILL BE SHOT IN PLACES
THAT INDICATE THE FREEDOM
THAT SHE/HE HAS GAINED AS A
RESULT OF LEAVING THE HOUSE.
THIS INCLUDES DRIVING A CAR ON
AN EMPTY ROAD WITH HIS/HER
HEAD STICKING OUT OF THE
WINDOW, RUNNING FREELY IN AN
EMPTY FIELD, ON FUNFAIR RIDES,
DIVING INTO POOLS/PONDS, AT A
CLUB ETC. THESE LOCATIONS
WILL PORTRAY THE
CHARACTERISTICS AND
BEHAVIOUR OF THE ARTIST.

10. THEME/COLOUR
AS THIS SONG IS AN UPBEAT SONG, WE WOULD LIKE TO
INCORPORATE SOME COLOUR INTO IT. THE COLOURS USE WILL
CONNOTE THE MANY EMOTIONS THAT THE ARTIST IS FEELING.
FOR EXAMPLE, SHADES OF RED WILL BE USED TO SHOW
DANGER AND BLACK FOR ANGER. THERE ARE MANY COLOURS
THAT WE WOULD NOT USE SUCH AS WHITE WHICH SYMBOLISES
PURITY AND BLUE, A CALM AND SOPHISTICATED COLOUR.
ALONG WITH THIS, THE USE OF MANY DIFFERENT COLOURS WILL
SHOW THAT THE ARTIST IS TROUBLED, NOT KNOWING WHAT SHE
SHOULD FEEL AND THEREFORE THIS RESULTS IN THE
REBELLIOUS ACTS. OUR CHOICE IN COLOUR MUST REPRESENT
THE IRONIC ENDING OF THE VIDEO.

DUE TO THE FACT THAT THIS SONG IS UPBEAT, THE PACE SHOULD BE
QUICK IN ORDER TO CATCH UP WITH IT. THE STORY LINE IS TENSE AND
THIS WILL BE SHOWN IN THE QUICK CHANGE OF SCENERY IN ORDER TO

LIGHTING
WE WILL USE BRIGHT LIGHTING AT THE MOMENTS WHEN THE ARTIST IS
AT HER/HIS PEAK DURING THE CHORUS. AT THE START, WHEN THERE IS
AN ARGUMENT, THE LIGHTING WILL BE DARK AS THE MOOD IS LOW.
SOME OF OUR SHOTS WILL BE SHOT OUTDOORS IN THE DAYTIME TO
ENSURE BRIGHT LIGHTING. HOWEVER, THERE ARE SOME SCENES THAT
WILL BE INSIDE IN PLACES SUCH AS A BEDROOM. TO ENSURE THAT
THERE IS A HIGH LEVEL OF LIGHTING, I WILL NOT ONLY HAVE THE
LIGHTS ON BUT WE WILL ALSO USE A REFLECTOR OR A LAMP.

THE GROUP OF PEOPLE THAT WE HAVE CHOSEN TO TARGET OUR
MUSIC VIDEO IS 16-25 YEAR OLDS. THIS IS DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE
STORY OF THE SONG IS RELATABLE TO MANY TEENAGERS. ALONG
WITH THIS, IT IS A PRECIOUS TIME WHERE YOUNG PEOPLE ARE
TRYING TO FIND OUT WHO THEY ARE AND THEY TEND TO GO TO
EXTREMES TO EXPLORE THEIR PERSONAL IDENTITY. IT IS A GENDER
NEUTRAL MUSIC VIDEO AS IT IS UNDER THE MUSIC GENRE OF POP AND
IS OPEN TO ALL. ALONG WITH THIS, IN THE LYRICS, THERE IS NO
OVERT SWEARING THEREFORE IT DOES NOT MARGINALISE AGE

PORTRAY THE CHARACTER AND A
WAY OF EXPRESSING THEIR
EMOTIONS, SO IF THE
CHARACTER IS FEELING FREE
AND REBELLIOUS, HER CLOTHING
