2. What is your age?
Out of 33 participants I
found that 73% were aged
between 16-20, and seeing
as my research was
conducted on the website
Surveymonkey.com, meanin
g that only people interested
in horror actually answered
the questionnaire, this could
show exactly what target
audience horror actually
attracts.
3. Male or Female?
This question was to investigate the stereotypes
as to whether males or females are the prime
audience for horror. It would appear that mostly
males appreciate horror but there is still a
minority market for female horror fans.
4. What sub-genres of horror do you
prefer?
Psychological horrors appear to
be the most popular sub genre
of horror, closely followed by
zombie horrors.
5. Do you like gore in a horror
movie?
Gore is a major aspect of a horror film, the ‘gore factor’ is
something that travels through word of mouth and creates a lot of
interest for particular films; thus I decided to see if my target
audience actually do enjoy gore and found a high 73% stating that
they did.
6. Do you prefer CCTV or
handheld camerawork
compared to other types?
One of our initial ideas involved using
primarily handheld camera work so
we deemed it important to consider
the target audiences view on it. 58%
of the audience preferred a film with
both.
7. What features of your
favourite horror films do you
most like?
In order to create a successful
trailer we had to discuss which
aspects were deemed most
important by our audience and
focus on making them to suit
the audience and create a film
they would want to see. It
seemed that plot, characters
and special effects were rated
most by the audience.
8. Are you scared more by
human monsters or
unrealistic monsters?
In this question 72% of the audience
find that human monsters are the
most fearful which gives insight
while making my own horror
narrative as to what type of monster
to create.
9. What is your favourite
horror setting?
Setting is very important
according to my target
audience so choosing the
right one is crucial in
making a successful
horror. 39% of the
audience rated
abandoned environments
closely followed by
houses and urban areas
as their favourite setting.
