The Reserve Bank of India has mandated that all banks must replace old cheque leaves with new CTS 2010 Standard compliant cheque leaves by March 31, 2013. The letter recommends that customers use only CTS 2010 standard cheques for all banking transactions after this date and replace any post-dated non-compliant cheques with CTS cheques before the deadline. It also provides a small presentation explaining the key features of CTS cheques to help identify compliance.

Dear Customer
Reserve Bank of India (“RBI”) has stipulated a new standard for the format of cheque leaves that are
issued by banks to their customers, known as “CTS 2010 Standard”, and has for the same
purpose directed all the banks to replace old cheque leaves with the new CTS 2010 Standard
compliant cheque leaves on or before 31st March 2013.
Please find enclosed small presentation of CTS clearing system.
We recommend:
Effective March 31.2013, please use only CTS 2010 standard cheques in all your banking
transactions
In case you have submitted post dated non CTS 2010 standard cheques dated 1st April 2013
onwards for your loans with us, please replace them with CTS 2010 standard cheques before
31.3.2013
