3. Concept and Theme
The concept of my coffee book is about
the culture of Colonial Era. During that time,
culture of Western and Eastern fuse together
forming a marvelous culture that only appear in
South East Asia especially in Malaysia.
One of the culture formed during that
time is Strait Chinese which Chinese that trade
at Malacca married local woman and form new
family.
The theme of my coffee book is about
the window of shophouses that was build
during the colonial era. Window is very
important as it ventilate air into the house.
Anyhow, there are different types of window
used as the influence of the culture is different.
4. Research of Places
Malaysia shophouses history are quite
complicated but the most of them are build
during the colonial era and influence by the
craftsman from Guang Zao, China but then
influence by British from India to China.
The architecture style is combination of
Chinese roof, corridor of India style and
classical motif. For example normally the
window of shophouses have classical moulding
with Indian glass but sometime Indian, Chinese
and Malay Carving is used to decorate the
window.
The 4 places I choose is all around Kuala
