Kevin Schaffter, founder and director of MusAid, was born in Thailand and has spent the majority of his life overseas in Vietnam, Laos, India, Kyrgyzstan and Romania, where he began clarinet at age 10. The impetus to found MusAid came from witnessing the hardships many musicians face in developing countries with obtaining quality music education and instruments. Kevin holds a Bachelor of Music from Indiana University and a Master’s of Music degree from The Yale School of Music with Professor David Shifrin. Kevin is currently a clarinet teacher for Yale undergraduate students and has extensive teaching experience in Belize, El Salvador, Laos and Kyrgyzstan. He won the 2011 Yamaha Young Per.
