• The No Child Left Behind or NCLB Act is an act
passed by President George W. Bush to raise
the number of students graduating college
and high school.
George W. Bush started NCLB, but President
Obama has started his own campaign to
increase literacy rates in the U.S.A called Race
to The Top.
4. What are the affects of NCLB?
• Literacy rates have increased, but teachers are
in tight state because if the given percentage
of students do not graduate, the teacher
looses his or her job.
• According to a article by Jack Hennings and
Diane Stark, state and county officials say that
children’s score are increasing, but they aren’t
sure if the kids are truly learning anything.
5. What are some opinions of NCLB?
• An article stated that teachers who have watched
the school say that NCLB has ruined the school,
putting the teachers and schools in a struggle. The
act has also caused many teachers to cheat because
of the risk they’re taking and loose their jobs. They
also feel betrayed by President Obama and are
frightened by the future of schools.
6. Why was the NCLB act passed
• To improve education in public schools and
increase employment in the U.S.
7. What are the Disadvantages of NCLB?
• Students don’t get as much time in other
subjects such as social studies or English,
because NCLB forces schools to concentrate
only on math and reading.
8. Math Teacher
• My “topic” was NCLB. I tied this career with a teacher
because the Act, passed originally by President George
W. Busch, then continued by President Barack Obama,
