This slide show shows my understanding of how film and digital are used and what they are used for. In this slide show you can learn different types of digital terminology and how it is used in editing.
2. Film vs Digital
• Debate on whether which camera has better quality
• Imax film has been said that it has the best film quality
3. Film Size
• This is a perfect example showing the bigger the mm the better quality you receive
• Film size has been developing over years to give better quality for people .
4. Digital Resolution
• Digital resolution is how many pixel’s per inch
• An inch will equal 1000
• Gives you quality in pictures
5. Aspect Ratio
• 1.85-1 is commonly used in cinema
• Ultra widescreen is used for action film
6. Standard Definition vs High Definition
• Both definitions are either PAL or NTSC
• Lower quality than HD
• Either 4:3 or 16:9 aspect ratio
9. The right Digital Formats
digital format is a format system that uses the digits 1 and 0
as code words to interpret data received and data to be sent
Some editing can be formatted due to compression
10. Online Editing
• Using online gives you the high editing quality
• Consumes a large amount of computer power
for example 2k 4k
11. Offline Editing
• Importing footage at a low quality
• Editing footage at a low quality such as 240p could be upgraded and
made better with a quality as 1080p
• Quicker saving you time
12. Linear vs non linear
• Using a camera to film a footage in a film is
linear
13. Non Linear
• Example of Non Linear is using a digital camera
• Editing footage easily
• Adjustments
• You can quickly use transitions and effects
14. Tapes vs Hard Discs
• If using a digital camera, tapes will not be
commonly used
• Tapes are rarely used now as memory
cardshard drives are used to save footage
• Disadvantage of this process is that, its less
secure

Common known argument whether which gives the best camera quality
It has been proven that the wider mm you receive a better film quality
Digital Resolution is what gives size and quality put together in a picture, the more pixel the better quality you receive
The ratio width to the height of the image on a television screen
There are 2 sets of definitions, PAL or NTSC
To take captive, as by force or craft; seize
Shows different formats that consumers use
Using the right type of digital format will give you good quality
This is when you use a footage to import in the pc at a low quality, which then the computer will output the footage in a high quality
Camera’s are what footage’s are used to make it a Linear
Not using a camera to record a footage would make it a a Non Linear
Tapes have been down graded as technology has risen, therefore hard discs are what are used more commonly now
