4. It’s a Mystery! Studying history is like being a detective. Detectives ask questions, interview, examine, and, well, detect in order to solve a problem or find an answer. You’ll be looking at pictures to discover what is “Social Studies” and to learn what we’ll be learning this year.

5. Your Mission Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to discover just what we study when we are talking about “social studies.” Asking questions is the best place to start. We’ll be looking at pictures today. When you examine a picture, you want to ask yourself the following question. What am I looking at? How is this related to our class? What could I learn from and about this picture?
