3. “ Why iZigg, Why Now?” From the izigg blog spoken by Jason Borne When we asked Jason “Why iZigg, Why Now?” here is what he had to say: IN THE LAST 12 MONTHS, A SHIFT HAS TAKEN PLACE. The shift…People have started moving away from their home computers and laptops, and EVERYTHING IS GOING MOBILE… Facebook has taken advantage of this perfect timing and blown past Myspace. Why? More mobile friendly, better mobile apps, easier to connect with the world from the palm of your hand… and now over 100 million USERS access Facebook on their mobile devices every single day. At a recent conference, Facebook’s VP of business development stated that their primary focus, THEIR MOBILE PLATFORM, will soon launch them to over A BILLION subscribers worldwide. AND…not only FACEBOOK, but EVERYTHING is moving in the next 2 years to the device that is now more important to people than even their wallets… Their mobile phone. Think about it…Your phone has become an extension of your arm. We sleep with our phones, eat with our phones, text while watching TV, text in bed, text in the bathroom, text on the toilet, (yes, you text on the toilet!) text in airports, text at church, text while we are actually on the phone! We text at breakfast, lunch, coffee, dinner, and dessert. Kids text on the bus, text at school, and text on the way home. We text to send money. We text to vote for Miss America and American Idol. We can now text to 911 emergency. It’s truly where people’s eyes are, and it’s what people are doing… ALL THE TIME. So if you want to be a part of the next HUGE TREND in business and tap into the millions of eyes that built the billions of Facebook, here is your chance for the first time to do just that. Izigg. It’s where the eyes are, so don’t blink…
4. By Joan Daily Starbucks recently partnered with the social platform Foursquare to test out a new customer loyalty and rewards program. By offering a hard-earned $1 discount on a Frappuccino to the named “Mayors” of local Starbucks stores, they were hoping to innovate within the traditional field of customer loyalty and rewards programs. Unfortunately, we haven’t seen much reward for either Starbucks or its customers. Besides the difficulty to even become a “Mayor”, the individuals that have been so fortunate to be crowned are often met with confusion when they try and redeem their $1 off discount. Take a listen to what David Teicher wrote on his Aerocles blog after being crowned Mayor and notified of his reward: “ I was entitled to a $1 discount on any Frappuccino. And so, with a stupid ass grin plastered on my face, I walked up to the Barista and kindly asked for the frap, with discount, courtesy of the promotion and showed her my phone with the corresponding messaging displayed. She had no idea what I was talking about. Neither did the manager. Consequently, I left, quite unhappy, and walked straight into the Dunkin Donuts around the corner (though they screwed up my order, at least they didn’t renege on any promises.)” Suggestion for Starbucks – Ditch Foursquare and Try iZigg
5. Similar stories are popping up everywhere. But there are other problems as well, including over-saturation on Foursquare because of so many Starbucks locations, the difficult redemption process, employee competition for “Mayor”, and lack of behavioral and geo targeting. Now I’m a loyal Starbucks customer myself. And I’m all for a good promotion. But even for me, I don’t really care much about becoming a Mayor, especially not if it takes a lot of effort and my only reward is a silly $1 off coupon on a drink that I rarely order. So what would get me excited to go to Starbucks? How about Starbucks offers “$2 off a coffee of your choice” to 1000 lucky winners a day? All you need to do is text “Starbucks1000” to 90210 and that enters you to win each day during the promotion period.
