2. If you want to find performance reviews in a major
newspaper, like the New York Times, there are a few
steps to follow.
3. Search Online Journals & Databases (all) (link
is on MPAL homepage) for the title of the
newspaper
4. You will then be
given a list of all of
the choices for full-
text access available
through U of I. Which
one you pick
depends on what
date you need, and
whether you have a
preference for a
particular interface.
5. The next steps vary a little
bit, depending on which source
you select, since each
tool/interface will give you
slightly different options.
6. As an example, if you
pick the first choice
from the list, you will
get a screen that will
let you find a specific
issue of the
newspaper or search
within it.
You can enter your
keywords and the
word "review" if you
are looking for a
performance review.
7. In some tools (or in
the Advanced Search
of this one), you can
indicate
• Publication Title
• Publication Date
• Key words
• What type of
information
(e.g., "review")
8. If you would rather
just do a simple
keyword search
first, and deal with
limiting your results
afterward, you can use
the limit choices
suggested.
