Why do we exercise? For good health Can help with weight loss Can boost HDL (good cholesterol) Can be done through various activities/sports Can boost your confidence
Ways to exercise…. Aerobic Exercise (football, tennis, soccer, etc.) Muscle-strengthening (pushups, crunches, squats, etc.) Regular activities (walking, swimming, biking, etc.)
A team player… Listens actively Functions as an active participant Shares Cooperates Commits to the team Treats others with respect

Group Sports What group sports can you think of? Soccer Football Tennis Baseball Basketball Many more….
Which sports have rules? Football Soccer Tennis Baseball Many more… Always be aware ofthese rules so you can play fair.
Why are rules important? Open discussion with the class for 5 minutes…..
Equipment Maintenance How can we ensure our equipment will last a long time? Treat equipment with respect Always clean the equipment after use Return all equipment to the proper spot Make sure to use the equipment for the intended purpose Always notify the teacher if something does not seem right
Good food helps us stay active! The right foods will…. Prevent cramping while playing Increase your energy level Lower bad cholesterol Boost your immunity (helps prevent illness) Help maintain a healthy heart
Healthy foods consist of: Proteins Carbohydrates  Fats  Vitamins Minerals Food is condensed and transformed into energy.  This allows us to engage in many activities everyday!
Types of good food Fruits Vegetables Yogurt Oatmeal Salmon Tuna Whole-wheat Always remember to stay hydrated by drinking lots of water.
Bad Foods!! Junk food is bad for your learning, health, and many other things.  Some foods that you should keep to a minimum include: Pizza Candy Soda Gum Chips Fast food
Always remember to stay healthy and active!!!!!
