This document measures and compares the backswing times of several professional golfers. It found that Tiger Woods, Bobby Jones, and Ben Hogan all took 0.7 seconds to complete their backswings, as measured by their motions taking 21 video frames. Adam Scott and Luke Donald were slightly slower at 0.73 and 0.8 seconds respectively, while Ernie Els, Sergio Garcia and Vijay Singh took 0.76 and 0.86 seconds to complete their backswings.

1. Backswing times are determined by recording the frame at which the player makes the initial move of the takeaway and completes the backswing, (just before the lower body initiates the downswing) 30 Frames = 1 second of video 21 ÷ 30 = 0.7 seconds
