9. Being more successful in delivering business value
— Today the most disruptive transformations in the IT world in 35 years is taken place
— To improve competitiveness companies are forced to move to PaaS solutions
— The 3rd platform supports SMACT (= Social, Mobile, Big Data, Cloud, Internet of
Things)
— Mature Enterprise PaaS platforms with fully integrated SMACT solutions reduced
development cycles and delivery times and cost-reduction to deploy new applications
— This allows companies to market and develop new products much faster
— Within a decade many 2nd platform applications will either be used as legacy
vanilla solutions or be replaced
— Faster development with quarterly automatic upgrades, inclusive customizations, will
improve the overall competitiveness of almost any company
— Success of 3rd platform solutions depends of the maturity of your integrated
development street. (Enterprise PaaS)

10. Business/IT value highlights; staggering results
(In comparison with other development environments)
— A mature 3rd platform delivers a extremely high ROI¹ ( >> 100%)
— Acceleration time to market improvement (> 60%)
— Additional applications launched per year (> 75%)
— An increase in application development capacity (>40%)
— Reducing in overall IT costs; governance, project management, ALM,
Personnel, etc.
— A significant reduction in infrastructure costs (>75%)
— Eventually success, in building applications, depends on the development
platform

Linux, Big Data, SQL, HTML5
— Enterprise Paas platforms added the Business-Developer-
Infrastructure as a third layer for easily add functionality in this
governed environment without disrupting the enterprise solution
— Multi-tenancy Apps are built on the same code base. Gives
massive savings, and allows customizations and new apps to be
created much faster than before
— Customizations are separated from the standard solution;
application upgrades not hampered by customizations
— It’s easy to integrate with other aPaaS enterprise solutions
— Mature enterprise aPaas platforms meet most international
security standards
— Even solutions written in other object oriented languages are
easily integrated
— The elastic redundant Cloud database and infrastructure is
the foundation of Enterprise PaaS

14. The importance of mobility
— Mobile Apps (MA) are everywhere, CAGR will be over 60% from 2013-2017 with a
predicted total revenue of 70B in 2017. Mobile development is the key focus for
enterprise developers and creators of commercial applications
— All Mobile Services in Enterprise PaaS are geared around rapid code development
using rich platform data and orchestration resources
— Business analysts can use drag-and-drop tools to automate business processes.
Personalized reports and dashboards are automatically available to any app created
— Visual Component-based frameworks will enhance building application user interfaces
— PaaS enables every app to have built-in social collaboration, such as a Chatter,
providing resources for feeds, comments, likes, users, groups, private messages for
mobile and Web apps
— Enterprise Mobile Apps can be embedded in visual workflows
— Role-based access control will govern enterprise Mobile App usage

15. The contribution of a Cloud database. (Part of IaaS)
— Old school ACID (Atomicity, Consistency, Isolation, Durability) RDBMS requirements are not
present anymore. All Cloud databases are different, have their own architectures, but have
one set of commonality. Most Cloud databases work with hashed key-value pairs – Two
sets of strings.
— Cloud databases are highly distributed and elastic; not only within one, but over
multiple datacenters – A Back-Up is therefore not needed anymore and have a ‘no point
of failure' philosophy.
— Fields can be added to ‘tables’ without disturbing the present business logic (Object
orientation allows that) and guarantee a low latency (15-25 ms) and an extremely high
throughput (15,000-50,000 operations/sec)
— If size gets bigger, performance gets better due to the distribution of the database files.
(<500M<#records<2B)
— Objects (essentially database tables) can be created with drag-and-drop tools that come with auto-generated
UIs and predesigned templates

20. Many UK businesses unhappy with their ERP

Published by ERPNEWS on September 13, 2014
ERP mobility is essential for responding more quickly
to customer questions:
➡ 70% of UK employees can access ERP on the move
compared 45% in Germany.
➡ The UK also has the top need for ‘ERP home working’ with
64% specifically wanting home based access compared to
48% in Germany.
Device choice is critical with smart phones and
tablets being desired forms of ERP access, while
the requirement for office and paper based access
is declining:
➡ Despite this today as many as 75% of respondents
worldwide do not access ERP from their smart phone or
personal device.
➡ To support these expanding mobility and device
requirements most future ERP systems are likely to be
app focused, cloud based or vendor hosted, with only 1
in 5 being purely on-premises in the future.
Social collaboration is also vital to future ERP:
➡ 91% of UK respondents see it as ‘helpful’ and 52% view it
as ‘important’ to future business performance.
➡ Users would like ERP to include social media tools to
improve communication with customers, for 49%.
➡ But only 15% of organisations surveyed globally and 13%
in the UK thought that inter-departmental collaboration
was ‘very effective’.
“It’s concerning that while the vast majority of
organisations place high importance on ERP many are
underwhelmed by the performance of their current
systems. ERP has been a vital strategic business platform
that has helped thousands of organisations to adapt and
respond to changing business demands for nearly 25
years, but its seems now is the time for ERP to adapt to
survive as users demand greater performance from the
system or risk being outflanked by their competitors.”

• No doubt, ERP does what it does very well
!
• But it isn’t the place to innovate to
differentiate your business
!
• Your business has processes that span
many business units, systems, countries
and data
!
• As you need to evolve, you need to make
that change happen quickly
!
• ERP isn’t the place for this, something
else is....
