WHAT ARE ADJECTIVES?
 Adjectives describe nouns (persons, places, or things) or
pronouns (words that substitute for nouns).
 An adjective usually comes before the word it
       describes.
 Sometimes an adjective comes after a being verb, a
verb that tells what something is.
 Adjectives: Comparative and Superlative Forms
 The comparative form of an adjective compares two
       persons or things.
 The superlative form compares three or more persons
       or things.

WHAT ARE ADJECTIVES?
 For most adjectives of one syllable, add –erto form
the comparative, and add –estto form the
     superlative.
 For longer adjectives, use more to form the
comparative, and most to form the superlative.

WHAT ARE ADVERBS?
 Adverbs describe verbs, adjectives, or other adverbs.
 Adverbs answer questions like “How?” “How
much?” “How often?” “When?” “Why?” and
       “Where?”

HINTS ABOUT ADJECTIVES AND ADVERBS
 Do not use an adjective when you need an adverb.
 Don’t confuse good and well, bad and badly
 Good and bad are adjectives.

 Well and badly are adverbs.

Well is sometimes an adjective when it means
         healthy.
 Not more + -eror most + -est
Never write both an –erending and more, or an –
         estending and most.

HINTS ABOUT ADJECTIVES AND ADVERBS
 Use Than, not Then, in Comparisons
 When you compare things, use than.
 Then means “at a later time.”
 When Do I Need a Comma Between Adjectives?
 Sometimes you use more than one adjective to
       describe a noun.
 Use these tests to decide whether you need a
       comma.
        1. Try to put and between the adjectives. If the
sentence still makes sense, put a comma
           between the adjectives.

HINTS ABOUT ADJECTIVES AND ADVERBS
       2. Try to reverse the order of the adjectives. If
