Digital art lesson plan text portraits

1. STANDARDS
VAPA Standards (loosely grades 7-12)
Identifying proportion, use artistic terms and language, use
electronic media and/or digital imagery to create, use
knowledge to create 2-d art, use a medium to convey theme,
create art that makes a social comment, critique works of art
History Integration (loosely grades 7-12)
Use famous quotes alongside an image of a prominent histori-
cal figure from an illustration, painting, or photograph to cre-
ate a new digital artwork about that character. Possibly could
include monuments with teacher discretion.
ELA Integration (loosely grades 7-12)
Use themes and/or quotes from text alongside an image of a
literary character from an illustration, painting, or photograph
to create a new digital artwork about that character.
PROCESS
1. Overview project
2. Students find image via Google images
3. Students open poster template in Pixlr
4. Students merge in character photo
5. Students remove color
6. Students manipulate photo to remove background &
to clean up edges
7. Students add and manipulate text
8. Students turn in work
9. Students participate in a presentation and critique of
other’s work via the Google Slides Critique file
