2. Nouns (คานาม)
Nouns (คานาม) คือ คาที่ ใช้เรี ย กชื่ อ คน สัตว์ สิ่ งของต่ างๆ ที่อยู่รอบตัว เรา คานาม
แบ่งออกเป็ น 2 ชนิด
1. คานามที่นบจานวนได้ (Countable Noun)

2. คานามที่นบจานวนไม่ได้ (Uncountable Noun)

1. คานามที่นบได้ คือ คานามที่สามารถนับจานวน 1, 2 ได้ การบอกปริ มาณในคานามที่นบได้
ั ั
มักใช้ a an แทนจานวน 1 หรื อใช้ตวเลขแทนเลยก็ได้
ั
a นาหน้าคานามเอกพจน์จานวน 1 ที่ข้ ึนต้นด้วยพยัญชนะ
an นาหน้าคานามเอกพจน์จานวน 1 ที่ข้ ึนต้นด้วยสระ ( a, e, i, o, u )
คานามที่นบจานวนได้ มี 2 ชนิด

คานามที่มีอยูสิ่งเดียว เรี ยกว่า เป็ นเอกพจน์ (Singular)
่
คานามที่มีมากกว่าหนึ่ง คือ ตั้งแต่สองขึ้นไป เรี ยกว่า เป็ นพหูพจน์ (Plural)
คานามที่มีจานวนมากกว่า 1 ให้เติ ม s หรื อ es ที่ทายคานามนั้น และเปลี่ยนคานาหน้า

นาม คือ a, an ให้เป็ น some หรื อใช้ตวเลขบ่งบอกจานวน
ั
a cat (one cat) (some) หรื อ 3 / three cats
an apple (one apple) (some) หรื อ 2 / two apples
a brush (some) หรื อ 3 / three brushes
นอกจากจะเติ ม s หรื อ es เพื่อให้น ามนั้น มีรู ปเป็ นพหู พจน์แล้ว จะเห็ น ได้ว่ารู ปนาม
พหูพจน์มีรูปเปลี่ยนมาจากนามเอกพจน์หลายวิธีดงนี้ ั
1. นามเอกพจน์ทาให้เป็ นพหูพจน์ได้โดยการเติม s เช่น
mother – mothers student – students
2. นามเอกพจน์ที่ลงท้ายด้วย o, ss, s, sh, ch, x ทาเป็ นพหูพจน์โดยการเติม es เช่น
mango – mangoes dish – dishes glass – glasses
watch – watches bus – buses box – boxes

3. 3. นามเอกพจน์ที่ลงท้ายด้วย y ทาเป็ นพหูพจน์ได้โดย เปลี่ยน y เป็ น iแล้วเติมes เช่น
lady – ladies baby – babies
story – stories country – countries
ยกเว้น ถ้าหน้า y เป็ นสระ a, e, i, o, u ไม่ตองเปลี่ยน y เติม s ได้เลย เช่น

monkey – monkeys boy – boys
toy – toys key – keys
4. นามเอกพจน์ที่ลงท้ายด้วย f หรื อ fe ที่เป็ นรู ปพหูพจน์โดยเปลี่ยน f หรื อ fe เป็ น vแล้ว
เติม es เช่น life – lives leaf – leaves
knife – knives wolf – wolves
5. นามเอกพจน์ เมื่อทาเป็ นพหูพจน์ได้ โดยเปลี่ยนสระภายใน เช่น
man – men woman – women foot – feet
tooth – teeth goose – geese child – children
ข้อควรสังเกต คานามที่มีรูปเหมือนกันทั้งเอกพจน์และพหูพจน์ คือ fish, sheep, deer
คานามที่มีรูปเป็ นพหูพจน์เสมอ คือ noodles, people
2. คานามที่นบไม่ได้ คือ คานามที่ไม่สามารถนับจานวน 1, 2 ได้ ไม่มี a, an นาหน้า แต่จะมี
ั
some นาหน้า ส่วนมากมักเป็ นคาที่เกี่ยวกับอาหาร หรื อประเภทที่เป็ นของเหลว เช่น
bread coffee orange juice meat
ข้อสังเกต คานามที่เป็ นทั้งคานามที่นบจานวนได้และคานามที่นบจานวนไม่ได้ เช่น

fish (นับได้) fish (นับไม่ได้)
watermelon (นับได้) watermelon (นับไม่ได้)
chicken (นับได้) chicken (นับไม่ได้)

4. การบอกปริมาณของคานามที่นบจานวนไม่ได้
ั
คานามที่นบจานวนไม่ได้ ถ้าจะนับจานวน หรื อบอกปริ มาณ ต้องบอกตามภาชนะที่บรรจุ
ั
หรื อตักตวงคานามนั้นๆ ในบางครั้งอาจจะบอกเป็ นชิ้น หรื อจานวนน้ าหนักแล้วตามด้วย of และ
ทาเป็ นพหูพจน์ได้โดยบอกจานวนภาชนะที่บรรจุน้ นๆ เช่น
