Poverty leads to high mortality rates, increased health risks, hampers children's development, inhibits education, and increases conflict. Globally, over 1 billion people live on less than $1.25 per day, 22,000 children die daily due to poverty, and 8 million die annually from lack of food and nutrition. The majority of the world's hungry population lives in just 7 countries including India.
