Uncommon Grace The Autobiography of Isaac Folorunso
Resource managemnent and project managrement
1.
2. • Project resource management refers to a set of
integrated processes that enable project managers
(possibly in conjunction with the PMO and other decision-
makers) to determine, obtain, allocate, develop, and
monitor the resources that are required to successfully
complete a project.
3. • The exact phases, and the order in which they're
completed, may vary slightly, depending on what you
need to achieve with your project. The phases are as
follows:
• Project strategy and business case
• Preparation.
• Design.
• Development and testing.
• Training and business readiness.
• Support and benefits realization.
• Project close.
5. • Here, you ensure that you adequately satisfy the
conditions for completing each phase, and for starting the
next one. To do this, make sure that you fully understand
the "gates", or deliverables that must be completed and
approved by the appropriate stakeholders before you can
exit a phase. Deliverables and sign-off requirements are
usually identified in the Project Initiation Document , so
review this appropriately during the project.
6. • Carry out high-level planning for the whole project at the
start of the project, then do more detailed planning for
each phase at the start of each phase. Ensure that you
have the right people, resources, methodologies, and
supporting tools in place for each planning phase, so that
you can deliver the project on time, on budget, and to
appropriate quality standards.
7. It's essential to control scope , cost , and issues ; and to
manage time, risks , and benefits effectively. Create
reports that contain the information you need to create an
accurate picture of how things are proceeding. A common
way of doing this is to use a Project Dashboard .
8. • As project manager, you are responsible for managing
the project team. Working on a project is often different
from most "business as usual" activities, and project work
may require a different approach and set of skills. As
such, you'll probably need specific project management
training and support. And there are additional
complexities in managing team members who have
project responsibilities as well as other roles at the same
time (see our article on Managing Cross-Functional
Teams for more on this).
9. • Make sure that you're clear about who is responsible for
communicating to team members, the project board, the
different stakeholders within the business, and relevant
third parties. Inadequate communication is a frequent
problem area for projects, and it needs considerable
attention to communicate well.
10. • Many projects do not stand on their own within an
organization – they often impact other areas of the
business. Make sure that you consider how your project
will interface with other projects or functions.
11. • HRM can be defined as the effective management of
people in an organisation. HR management helps bridge
the gap between employees’ performance and the
organisation’s strategic objectives. Moreover, an efficient
HR management team can give firms an edge over their
competition.
12. • Strategy management: This is an important aspect of
any organisation and plays a vital role in human resource
management. HR managers manage strategies to
ensure the organisation reaches its business goals, as
well as contributing significantly to the corporate
decision-making process, which includes assessments
for current employees and predictions for future ones
based on business demands.
• Benefits analysis: HR managers work towards reducing
costs, such as with recruitment and retention. HR
professionals are trained to conduct efficient negotiations
with potential and existing employees, as well as being
well-versed with employee benefits that are likely to
attract quality candidates and retaining the existing
workforce.
13. • HR management is becoming an increasingly popular
career choice, leading to more and more people opting
for HR management courses. In fact, it could be one of
the best business courses to take in 2019.
• GISMA Business School, known for its high-quality
education and multicultural environment, offers the MSc
Leadership and Human Resource Management, awarded
by The University of Law.

14. • Training and development: Since HR managers contribute
significantly to training and development programmes, they also play
a pivotal role in strengthening employer-employee relationships. This
contributes to the growth of employees within the company, hence
enhancing employee satisfaction and productivity.
• Interactivity within employees: HR managers are responsible for
conducting activities, events and celebrations in the organisation
which gives way to team building opportunities. Moreover, it
enhances interactivity within employees and instils a sense of trust
and respect among peers.
• Conflict management: The department to go to when any kind of
professional conflict arises between employees is HR. They ensure
that issues and conflicts are resolved effectively, approaching the
problem with an unbiased attitude and encouraging effective
communication to reach a solution. In addition, they help employees
understand various ways of developing effective work relationships
and the importance of not letting personal judgement affect their
behaviour.
