Another 70 Facebook for Business Tips

1. Post about what interests your audience
2. Try and make it topical, eg if a new movie has been released, or if an event is on, eg the
    soccer world cup
3. Get quirky and fun, eg on the Mocks fan page that we have had letters from iPods
complaining about abuse from owners – it sparks a conversation
4. Respond to comments in a human way, so say you love what they’ve written, suggest
    other ideas to them
5. Don’t be afraid of not agreeing with your fans, obviously don’t out and out argue, but it’s
ok to have a different viewpoint
6. Let other fans answer queries from fans, don’t feel it has to be you all the time – tip if
they are doing this you are doing a fab job, it means you have built a community!
7. Don’t just waffle on about your company/product/service/you that’s interesting the first
few times, or every now and again, but NOT EVERYDAY
8. Don’t try to please all the people all the time, basically you’re not going to be able to do
it, instead know your target audience
9. Don’t delete negative comments, instead respond to them in a positive way
10. Don’t allow meanness between likers, in some ways you are the parent in this
    relationship
11. Upload videos onto your page from within Facebook, from a link from YouTube, video is
    good for SEO
12. Schedule your posts, write them all at once, and then schedule when you want them to
come out, you can use Tweetdeck.com to do this for free
13. You can choose whether visitors to your page see just your page’s posts as default or
your page and liker’s posts as default, as social media is supposed to be social it is best
to choose both your and your likers posts
14. Always try to add value to your likers through your posts
15. Selling is not adding value ‐ your Facebook page is not all about sell, sell, sell, remember
that you want to build a community where people trust your business/product/service
then they will buy from you
16. Keep a note what you have already posted ‐ so that you can see what works well, so you
know what to do more of and what to do less of
17. Respond to all comments, if someone comments on a post then respond to them, they
have made the effort so you should acknowledge that
18. Your Facebook page is like a party and you are the host/hostess
19. A newsletter is an excellent way to engage with your consumers, include a tab where
they can sign up for it

    about any changes
21. When you post a link you can modify the name of the link by clicking on it (it will be
    yellow) and changing the text
22. If you post a link from a website you can scroll through and choose which thumbnail
picture you want next to it, as often there is more than one to choose from.
23. Add photos to posts to keep them interesting and it adds colour to your wall

                                            Page | 1
                           © Social Rabbit 2010 www.SocialRabbit.net

spaces, so make use of them

28. You can only write on a page wall if you like the page
29. Ask likers questions for better engagement
30. Only a person (personal profile) can like a page – a page can’t like a page
31. A page can favourite another page
32. To put a heart in your post type this, it will turn into a heart when you hit post: <3

    personally like the page.

people just don’t think about inviting others
35. Don’t forget to let people know how they can contact your business, apart from a
website try to include an email address or phone number on your info tab
36. Be consistent with your posts, ie if you decide on daily, then try to keep it as daily, not 5
times one day and then nothing for a week

likes on your posts and then try to post at these times/days
48. On your info tab don’t just have a mass of text, it makes it very hard to read, use bullet
points, spacing and CAPS to make it easy to read
49. Visit www.Facebook.com/smexaminer for great articles and tips to improve your page

                                            Page | 2

51. If you want to know how many people on Facebook would be interested in something
use the Facebook ads setup to find out
52. There are no setup costs for Facebook Ads
53. In Facebook ad’s CPC means cost per click, ie each time someone who sees your ad clicks
    on it
54. In Facebook ad’s CPM means cost per 1000 impressions, so you pay for each time the ad
    appears

57. If you don’t know your keywords (they are the same as for your website) then use the
Google keyword tool by searching on Google for it
58. Facebook pages appear in online search engine results, therefore are the best type of
Facebook account for promotion for your business
59. You don’t need to have a Facebook account to set up a page, just go to Facebook.com
and click on create a page for my business under the sign up section
60. Search engines search your pages info tab and info box (under the profile picture) when
    looking for results

    page
64. Make sure your page has a welcome/landing tab, people are twice as likely to like a page
    with a welcome tab
65. Your personal Facebook profile is NOT connected to your page in any way, NOTHING you
post on your personal profile appears on your page
66. No one knows who the admins are for your Facebook page unless you tell them
67. You can’t change from a page to a group or vice versa
68. Don’t assume that people visiting your page will go to your website if they can’t find
    what they are looking for
69. If you sell products online and put up photos of them include a link in the description to
EXACTLY where they buy them online
70. Use your page’s photo albums in a way that makes it easy for people to find what they
want to see, this doesn’t mean adding 1000s of photos into one album but instead break
them up into smaller albums with sensible names!

70 Facebook Page Tips

  • 1.     Another 70 Facebook for Business Tips  1. Post about what interests your audience  2. Try and make it topical, eg if a new movie has been released, or if an event is on, eg the  soccer world cup  3. Get quirky and fun, eg on the Mocks fan page that we have had letters from iPods  complaining about abuse from owners – it sparks a conversation  4. Respond to comments in a human way, so say you love what they’ve written, suggest  other ideas to them  5. Don’t be afraid of not agreeing with your fans, obviously don’t out and out argue, but it’s  ok to have a different viewpoint  6. Let other fans answer queries from fans, don’t feel it has to be you all the time – tip if  they are doing this you are doing a fab job, it means you have built a community!  7. Don’t just waffle on about your company/product/service/you that’s interesting the first  few times, or every now and again, but NOT EVERYDAY  8. Don’t try to please all the people all the time, basically you’re not going to be able to do  it, instead know your target audience  9. Don’t delete negative comments, instead respond to them in a positive way  10. Don’t allow meanness between likers, in some ways you are the parent in this  relationship  11. Upload videos onto your page from within Facebook, from a link from YouTube, video is  good for SEO  12. Schedule your posts, write them all at once, and then schedule when you want them to  come out, you can use Tweetdeck.com to do this for free  13. You can choose whether visitors to your page see just your page’s posts as default or  your page and liker’s posts as default, as social media is supposed to be social it is best  to choose both your and your likers posts  14. Always try to add value to your likers through your posts  15. Selling is not adding value ‐ your Facebook page is not all about sell, sell, sell, remember  that you want to build a community where people trust your business/product/service  then they will buy from you  16. Keep a note what you have already posted ‐ so that you can see what works well, so you  know what to do more of and what to do less of  17. Respond to all comments, if someone comments on a post then respond to them, they  have made the effort so you should acknowledge that  18. Your Facebook page is like a party and you are the host/hostess  19. A newsletter is an excellent way to engage with your consumers, include a tab where  they can sign up for it  20. www.facebook.com/FacebookPages is a great resource to visit to get case studies and find out  about any changes  21. When you post a link you can modify the name of the link by clicking on it (it will be  yellow) and changing the text  22. If you post a link from a website you can scroll through and choose which thumbnail  picture you want next to it, as often there is more than one to choose from.  23. Add photos to posts to keep them interesting and it adds colour to your wall  Page | 1             © Social Rabbit 2010 www.SocialRabbit.net
  • 2.     24. You have 250 characters that you can write in your info box – this doesn’t include  spaces, so make use of them  25. Offer new visitors to your page a free ebook when they like your page to increase the  number of people to your page  26. Incorporate your Facebook page onto your website, to get a like badge to put onto your  website go to www.facebook.com/facebook‐widgets   27. Post on other pages, to attract visitors to your page, but MAKE SURE you offer value and  don’t just spam the page, put a link to your page at the end of your post  28. You can only write on a page wall if you like the page  29. Ask likers questions for better engagement   30. Only a person (personal profile) can like a page – a page can’t like a page  31. A page can favourite another page  32. To put a heart in your post type this, it will turn into a heart when you hit post: <3  33. To tag your page or another in a post write @then the page name, it will hyperlink in  blue and you won’t be able to see the @ symbol if done right. You can only tag it if you  personally like the page.  34. Ask for help from your likers if you are stuck on your page for ideas   41. Use social plugins to add like boxes to your website to integrate it with Facebook,   http://developers.facebook.com/plugins   42. Try to vary your posting, don’t post video after video after video, but instead mix it up  43. One great Facebook page to visit is www.Facebook.com/Marismith she is a USA social  media guru  44. Mimic other great Facebookers, if you are stuck for ideas check out other pages that you  like, they don’t have to be in the same area as your business  45. On your info tab don’t just have a mass of text, it makes it very hard to read, use bullet  points, spacing and CAPS to make it easy to read  49. Visit www.Facebook.com/smexaminer for great articles and tips to improve your page  50. • 3.     51. If you want to know how many people on Facebook would be interested in something  use the Facebook ads setup to find out  52. There are no setup costs for Facebook Ads  53. In Facebook ad’s CPC means cost per click, ie each time someone who sees your ad clicks  on it  54. In Facebook ad’s CPM means cost per 1000 impressions, so you pay for each time the ad  appears  55. Facebook Ads display in the right side column on Facebook pages up to 4 ads may show  at one time on any given page.   56. Make sure that the info box on your page includes at least one keyword  57. If you don’t know your keywords (they are the same as for your website) then use the  Google keyword tool by searching on Google for it  58. Facebook pages appear in online search engine results, therefore are the best type of  Facebook account for promotion for your business  59. You don’t need to have a Facebook account to set up a page, just go to Facebook.com  and click on create a page for my business under the sign up section  60. Search engines search your pages info tab and info box (under the profile picture) when  looking for results  61. Check out the Facebook competition rules before you run any competition on your page  62. Make sure that your info tab contains ALL your keywords  63. You can’t see the insights for your Facebook page until you have 30 people who like your  page  64. Make sure your page has a welcome/landing tab, people are twice as likely to like a page  with a welcome tab  65. Your personal Facebook profile is NOT connected to your page in any way, NOTHING you  post on your personal profile appears on your page  66. No one knows who the admins are for your Facebook page unless you tell them  67. You can’t change from a page to a group or vice versa  68. Don’t assume that people visiting your page will go to your website if they can’t find  what they are looking for  69. If you sell products online and put up photos of them include a link in the description to  EXACTLY where they buy them online  70. Use your page’s photo albums in a way that makes it easy for people to find what they  want to see, this doesn’t mean adding 1000s of photos into one album but instead break  them up into smaller albums with sensible names!  Page | 3             © Social Rabbit 2010 www.SocialRabbit.net
