1. THE EXPOSITORY MODE

I have chosen to use planet earth as my expository
documentary as it is a good example of how a persons
voice can become a part of the documentary.
David Attenborough most recognisable for his voice all
around the world, having him narrate throughout the
documentary emphasise the images we are seeing
explaining them in more depth.

2. THE POETIC MODE
Baraka is a poetic documentary that is very meaningful and has many
religious connotations. The clips and images that are used throughout help
paint a picture in your mind of how other people and cultures live.
The documentary does not need words it gives people the chance to grasp
the inner truth.
When watching it ,it has the power to change your emotions.
Rhymic quality's changed throughout to fit the images they were showing
such as when it showed the chicks on the conveyer belt the speed increased
to show tension.

3. THE OBSERVATIONAL MODE Window on the world
I have chosen to use my big fat gypsy weeding as
my observational documentary.
The filmmaker remains behind the camera and
does not influence the actions of the cast.
The camera is constantly moving and rushes
around to keep up with the action. Such as when
they were going to be evicted from dale farm, the
camera man would run along side.

4. THE PARTICIPATORY MODE
Throughout the filming of bear grylls the camera man is a
part of the recording as it shows him struggle to keep up
and all the dangers they both face.
Participatory mode is when the camera man and the cast
recording become a part of documentary .The camera is
turned on them and shows there struggle to keep up with
all the action and harsh environment.

5. THE REFLEXIVE MODE
Super size me
Show a truth but not the real truth. Has gone to
America to portray the reasons behind why
America has a problem with obesity by watching
the documentary it is clear to see that the
problem is down to the size of the fast food. This
is a reason behind the obesity figure in America
but its is not necessarily the truth.

6. THE PERFORMATIVE MODE
Louis Theroux behind bars
I have chosen to use Louis Theroux behind bars as
it is an example of performative documentary where
Louis Theroux is the film maker and also the
presenter.
He has done a number of documentaries all in
which he is both producer and presenter.
