SCHOOL ENVIRONMENT
At first, I wanted to focus on Reggio Emilia...which is a province in Italy where they practice a very unique form of early childhood education.
Then I asked myself...
I thought about what I loved about Reggio Emilia. What I really love is the Reggio Emilia idea that the ENVIRONMENT is the third teacher. Then I thought.. How can this be applied to public schools?

I am entirely certain that 20 years from now we will look back at education as it is practiced in schools today and wonder how we could have tolerated anything so primitive.”  -John W. Gardner
Are these schools really working for 21 st  century students? No.
There are many problems with todays school environment- whether it is the architecture, the food,  lack of trees, lack of art, or poor community... SO, What can we do as art educators to improve the school environment in todays public schools?
atelier - the french word for “workshop”. In english, it is better known as an artists' studio.
Creating a studio space that is a welcoming, rich place with artwork, materials, as well as creating a sense of community can greatly improve the environment in a school.
