APRIL 2010
Grand Priory donated 3500 Euro in April 2010 to the Founder of the
Angels' Children's Home, Ethiopia, Ms Mona Tonna Barthet, who some
years back sold all her possessions to create this Home for street boys in
Addis Ababa. Our money was raised through sponsorship of a Half
Marathon involving Members and Friends

A talk entitled "Saul of Tarsus - First century visitor to Malta" was
delivered by medical historian and author Chev. Prof. C. Savona-
Ventura at the Grand Hotel Excelsior as a fund-raising event for
the Equal Partners Foundation. The talk was followed by a pasta
buffet dinner at the Osborne Hotel in Valletta.

The Grand Prior inaugurated the Good Friday Statuary Exhibition depicting Christ’s
Passion through the Stages of the Cross set up by Grand Priory member Dr. the
Chev. Victor Camilleri. Donations to the amount of Euro620 collected during the
exhibition were forwarded to the Order of Charity. This donation, toped up to
Euro1000 by the Grand Priory, were presented on the 4th May to plastic hand
surgeon Donald Sammut towards the needs of lepers in Nepal where he annually
leads a voluntary team of medical specialists

friends were shown the correct technique of making traditional figoli
by a professional passticerie. The event was held as a fund-raising
occasion at the Scouts Headquarters at Dingli

Concert and Dinner to commemorate the Grand Prior’s 40 years
of faithful service to the Military and Hospitaller Order of St.

The President of the Republic of Malta meeting with members of the
delegation from the Grand Priory of the Maltese Islands. The Grand Prior
of the Maltese Islands H.E. Dr the Chev. Joseph R. Pace presented a
donation of Euro 750 to the Community Chest Fund. The Order also
presented a set of books about the Order of St. Lazarus, amongst which
those published by our Hospitaller and Historian Prof. Chev. Charles
Savona Ventura, as well as those written by Chev. Anthony Cutajar of the
Order of Charity

St. Lazarus Day activity—The Grand Prior led a
delegation of members in a visit to the elderly at
St. Vincent de Paule Residence. The inmates were
further given a small token of the visit.

Winter Investiture. A number of new admissions were made,
while previous members were awarded merit awards and
promotions. Following the Investiture a Gala Dinner was held
at the Radisson Blu Hotel at St.Julians. Guests included the
Londinium Group from the UK branch.
