I. Objectives:
At the end of the discussion, the pupils will be able to:
a) read the reading selection with appropriate intonation, expression, and
punctuation cues when applicable;
b) identify and use words with multiple meanings in sentences and;
c) appreciate the importance of preparedness for Weather and Natural
Disasters.
II. Subject Matter:
a. Reference:
Textbook: MTB-MLE 3, pages 403-407.
b. Materials: Book, Picture, Chart, and Flashcard.
c. Spring Board: The story of “Ang pagdahili sa Bukid”
d. Values Integration: Preparing for Weather and Natural Disasters
III. Procedure:
1. Preliminary Activity:
a. Drill: Spell the following words correctly:
a. Linog
b. Bagyo
c. Sagang
d. Baha
e. Katalagman
b. Review: The student will identify the name of the punctuation mark and will
state the purpose of this punctuation to the sentence.
1. Period (.)
2. Question Mark (?)
3. Exclamation Point (!)
4. Comma (,)
c. Motivation: Show a picture of a landslide.
1. What do you see? What must have happened to the place?
2. Have you ever heard someone tell his experience about a calamity his/ her
family faced?
3. What was Noel’s terrifying experience?
2. Lesson Proper:
1. Presentation: Will read together the story of “Ang Pagdahili sa Bukid”

2. Check the pupils’ comprehension on the selection read through the
following questions:
Let the pupils answer the motive question given.
a. To what the falling mountain is referred to?
b. If Noel and his family had not awakened, what do you think could have
happen?
c. What do you think saved Noel’s family from the landslide? Why?
d. How did the people must have saved themselves?
e. Has there been a landslide that occurred in or near your place?
f. Why do landslides happen?
g. If calamities occur, like landslides, what must you do?
h. Why must we prepare ourselves for incidents like this?
i. What is the best preparation for calamities like this?
j. Aside from the preparations we do, why must we always pray to ask God for
our safety?

b. First and Second group. They will give the meaning of each word by filling
up the chart.

2. What caused the change in the meaning of the words? (how the words
used in a sentence)
C. Abstraction:
Ask: Why it is called multiple meanings?
Words with multiple meanings give several meanings depending on how they are
used in a sentence.
D. Application:
 Guided Practice

IV. Evaluation:
 Read the given selection. Then write on a paper the phrase with the word with
multiple meanings. Give the meaning of each.
