Future network landscape in south Atlantic New Cables Planned by 2017 Monet cable (Miami) • Google + 3 Telcos in Brazil, Uruguay, and Angola • LSST plans to purchase 300 GHz of spectrum on one fiber pair (Currently enough for 6 X 100G) • 2/3 of this is proposed to be used by RNP and ANSP South Atlantic Cable System (Luanda) • Owned by Angola Cables • Shorter Africa – US Route euLaLink (Lisbon) • Major stakeholders are Telebras (Brazil) and IslaLink (Spain)

- Brazil is one of the largest potential wind energy producers of the world with an estimated potential wind power of 145 GW. The EU is a world leader in wind energy technologies. There is now 128 GW of installed wind power capacity in the EU. The US and Brazil dominate the ethanol market, cumulatively accounting for 87% of the global total. While Brazil has a dominant role in biofuel production, the EU has a larger infrastructure on biogas production and use.
