1. Hearing Loss and Children
Hearing can affect everyone, regardless of their age or gender. This means children are also at
risk of this condition.
Causes of Hearing Loss in Children
According to experts, childhood diseases, concussions, genetic influences and medication are
of the reasons why children are affected by hearing loss. However, the number one reason why
hearing is damaged at a young age is listening to load music.
Here are some other causes of children’s hearing loss:
Otitis Media - This is an infection in the middle ear that occurs because the tubes that
connect the middle ear to the nose, called Eustachian tubes.
Genetics – Some children can be born with hearing problems.
Ailment or Injury – Kids can lose their hearing after getting illnesses, like meningitis,
measles, chickenpox, and the flu.
Symptoms of Hearing Loss in Children
As parents, you are probably worried about your child’s well-being. Here are some symptoms of
hearing loss:
Not Reacting to Loud Noises
For instance, it starts to rain really hard in the middle of the night. You check your child to see if
he’s startled by the sound of the rainfall, only to find out that he’s still sound asleep. This could
be because he can’t hear the strong wind or the heavy rain.
Doesn’t Follow Directions Very Well
It’s a part of children’s nature to get distracted easily. Sometimes this could be the reason why
they fail to child up their rooms or make their beds asked them to. However, it could also be
because they weren’t able to hear you when you gave them your orders.
Delayed or Unclear Speech
Is your kid having trouble speaking or forming words? If so, this is probably because he can’t
hear the words well enough to say it.
Give Incorrect Answers to Questions
When ask your child a simple question like ‘how your day’ and he answers you with something’s
