3. STRUCTURE OF THE ATMOSPHERE
From the earth’s surface upwards, there
is a change in temperature. Based on the
change in temperature the atmosphere
has been divided in to different layers.
Troposphere, Stratosphere, Mesosphere,
Thermosphere.
4. TROPOSPHERE
According to the latitude and seasons,
the height of the troposphere varies. The
word troposphere is derived from the
Greek word ‘tropos’ which means to
turn. Air is very turbulent in this region.
Above the troposphere is the tropopause
where the temperature is steady.
5. STRATOSPHERE
In the lower part of stratosphere the
temperature is constant. This means that
as the height increases, the temperature
does not very. The transactional zone
above the stratosphere is stratopause.
6. MESOSPHERE
The atmospheric layer that extends from
50 km to 80 km above the sea level is
mesosphere. Te transitional zone above
this where the temperature remains
steady is called the mesopause.
7. THERMOSPHERE
This is an area where the temperature
increases abruptly. The part of the
thermosphere, from about 80 kilometers
to 400 kilometers, above the earth
surface is called ionosphere.
