2. The name says it all. Moscow-based IT services provider
Oblakoteka’s moniker comes from the Russian word ‘oblako’,
meaning cloud. Which is very apt considering Oblakoteka
specializes in delivering virtual infrastructure resources to some
of Russia’s biggest cloud service providers. Through its clients,
Oblakoteka supports companies from a wide range of
industries, from finance and retail to manufacturing.
There are many cloud service providers in Russia, so what sets
Oblakoteka apart?
“We’re passionate about helping our clients help their
customers get the most out of the cloud,” says
Maxim Zakharenko, General Director at Oblakoteka. “We’re
always on the look-out for cool, new technologies that will
improve the performance and quality of our cloud services.”
Working closely with Lenovo, Oblakoteka implemented one
System x3650 M5 server cluster at both of its data centers,
with each cluster configured as a single software-defined
environment. Powered by the Intel® Xeon® E5 processor family,
the two hyperconverged configurations deliver impressive
performance levels.
“We were working to a tight deadline, which is why we decided
to team up with Lenovo on the hardware side,” says
Alexei Permyakov, Technical Director at Oblakoteka. “They’d
already developed and tested a hardware bundle for Windows
Server 2016, so we didn’t have to mess about with configuring
servers and other low-level tasks ourselves. The Lenovo staff
were super-helpful and made sure we got everything set up
correctly in our data center.”
