The Común Project is a on depth exploration of sustainable communities in Latin America (Mexico to Brazil), started in May 2010. During the course of two years, Letícia and Ryan are visiting communities sustainable, eco villages and permaculture centers to document their ideas, techniques and tools for sustainable living that can be multiplied around the world. 2. ComúnTierra is an in-depth research project exploring Sustainable Community models in Latin America. The project is creating a Network of communities collecting their innovative ideas and creative projects.

3. The Project We are two inspired individuals that are traveling overland in a solar motorhome through Latin America, from Mexico to Brazil, since may 2010.

4. Over the course of 2 years, we are visiting a variety of ecological projects, immersing ourselves through volunteer work and participation in community life. ecovillages, sustainable farms, indigenous, spiritual and artistic communities.

5. Through our experiences we collect materials and messages, keeping an eye towards innovative and unique methods or tools developed locally that can be applied around the world.

6. We are also seeking opportunities to learn from indigenous peoples when possible, as a reference to other models of social organization.

10. The Map The multimedia map of sustainable communities allows a user to zoom in to a specific site and browse: photos, stories, videos and links of information about the community.

11. The site will grow out of our original trip’s real-time updates, and will remain a network between the communities visited and the world.

12. By documenting real case studies, we will make accessible the lessons learned from diverse projects.

13. The materials produced will connect people who want to contribute to existing projects, while also giving foundational knowledge about designing and building new communities.

14. Común Tierra will be a catalyst to help build real-life alternative models.

15. Who are we? Native to Oakland, California Music producer Permaculturalist Ryan Luckey Writer With the Global College of Long Island University, Ryan spent 3 years travelling and studying diverse cultural and communal models. Under the name RhythmAttic Productions, his music has been featured in documentary films and theater productions, most notably the Free Land Project.

Letícia Rigatti Native to Porto Alegre, Brasil Social Researcher Communication Planner Visual Artist MA in Social Communication Federal University of RS (Brazil) University of Barcelona Letícia has spent the last years traveling in Europe, North and South America gathering a network of artists and activists all over the world.
