1. What kind of media institution
might distribute your media
product and why?
Lewis Paradzai
2. The Institution
• The media institution that would distribute my
media product is the International Publishing
Cooperation (IPC Media) a subsidiary company of
Time Inc. It is a consumer and digital publisher in
the United Kingdom and with a selling portfolio
of 350 million each year. A reason for this success
is the institution publishing over 40 magazines
targeted at a wide range of audiences. For
example, IPC Media publishes ‘Amateur
Gardening’ all the way to ‘NME’
3. Why?
• IPC publishes many magazines only two of them are music
magazines-NME and Uncut. One could believe it would not be wise
to be published by a publisher, which is unfamiliar with the territory
of music magazines. However, IPC Media publishing Plural would
benefit the institution and myself. For example, the institution
would gain a new unique magazine unlike any they have, as NME is
an indie, rock and alternative magazine, whereas Uncut’s tends to
focus on Americana, rock and alternative country. Besides gaining a
new magazine publishing Plural, would provide IPC Media with a
wider grasp of the music industry and new audience.
• This distributor publishing my magazine would benefit Plural due to
the institution having the power, experience and knowledge to
reach a more for a demographic through advertising and financial
resources.
